Yoga on east side?

Postby clyde » Wed Jan 27, 2010 12:51 pm

Can anyone recommend a yoga class on the east side? I tried one a couple years back at Zion that operated more like an aerobics class, and I didn't like it. I prefer hatha or ashtanga, but willing to try something different. My trouble is so many classes are offered at o'dark thirty in the AM (not a morning person) or over lunch while I'm working.

Twisted Fitness located inside Ford's Gym (separate business) offers classes at night. A friend does a Tuesday night one and speaks highly of it. I go to Ford's and the TF owners seem like super nice people.

There's a nice yoga center (mostly Iyengar) in the 800 block E. Dayton (set back from street -- it's upstairs of a building on 800 E. Johnson) and there's another above the Willy St. Coop Kitchen building on E. Main, between First Street and the river. That one has beautiful airy views from the windows in the classroom. I am not sure what type of yoga they teach -- maybe it varies by instructor.

my friend, jim, teaches at main street.

he's got classes on tues and thurs afternoon/evenings and sat ams.
edit: i see now those are just his beginner classes. he's gas a couple more intermediate ones, as well. you can pay as you go, or buy a bulk pass (at a discount) to be used up in a prescribed amount of time.

he's very calming and patient.

Right next to Weary Traveler on Few St. So you can have a stiff one after getting all bendy.
