Hmm - If you have the youtube app on your android device, and a chromecast hanging from your TV, there's nothing about the TV then that does or doesn't support youtube. Video comes out of the CCs hdmi connector and the TV just darn shows it whatever it is.

I did that with my phone. I wanted a dedicated device. If the kindle dies, I may just buy an extra phone. Chrome cast on Vizio does not support You Tube. It just annoyed the bejessus out of me, that someone would tell me what I can and cannot have on my TV. When I googled the problem, I found I was not alone. It's wonderful that I can bring up an old concert or show or Martin Luther King, on demand.

She doesn't have a chromecast. She wants to use an amazon kindle. If she bought a chromecast it would only work with a 5th generation kindle. http://allaboutchromecast.com/how-to-us ... -fire-hdx/

This site says you can install youtube on a kindle with some trickery.

Or you could use an android device instead with a streamer other than amazon fire.

My Vizio has Chromecast but You Tube has been blocked out. Buyers are complaining that other TV's are not supporting You Tube. You've got to be careful when selecting a TV, as I've learned. The sound was actually better on the Vizio, when I put on music video.

Ah, chromecast for me is a little hockey-puck gizmo that costs about $40. Connects to an HDMI jack on the TV. Not something built into the TV. May be get one of those?

Tried that and had to return it because it also didn't support You Tube. Just google You Tube and a whole bunch of youtube not working on different devices complaints show up.

Mine works for youtube just gim-crackin'. I drive it with a motorola android phone with youtube and netflix apps installed. Mrs. Rodeo watches her youtube conspiracy theory videos on it by controlling it with the chrome browser on her macbook.

Yes youtube casting works fine for me, too, with my android phone and chromecast.

But I'm surprised Bwis can get youtube to play on her Kindle. From what I've read, youtube won't work on Kindle unless you take special steps. He experience is the opposite of what I would expect:

Bwis:
chromecast - won't play youtube
kindle - plays youtbue

My experience/understanding:
chromecast - plays youtube
kindle - won't play youtbue

I bought a cheap, reconditioned, 2014 HD 6" Kindle as a dedicated casting device. (Some older versions of Kindle do cast you tube and internet. It's also nice not to need a big keyboard. Next time I may buy a cheap smart phone.

Also, my Vizio has Chromecast but even their customer service confirmed it won't get internet or you tube.

OK you have a Kindle that will cast youtube. Your vizio tv won't play youtube by itself even with "built-in chromecast" (I've never heard of that). But you connect a 10 ft hdmi cable from your Kindle to your tv and are able to watch youtube on your tv.

Seems like if you attached a Chromecast device to your tv in the hdmi port, instead of putting the hdmi cable there, then you could cast wirelessly from your kindle to your tv and watch youtube. You wouldn't need an anazon streaming device (Fire tv, echo).

I tried that but it didn't work any better than the build in Chromecast. If you google the problem you will find that this is a problem for many.
