My 2018 Vizio Smart TV

Postby Bwis53 » Tue Dec 26, 2017 11:05 am

I think I got a good deal but I wonder if there is a work around to get You Tube. I can cast it but I wish I could just bring it up alone. Is there a nerd out there who can help me not buy the wrong gadget?

I'm a nerd. Seems like youtube should come up with all the other built in apps. Did you select the right Source on your remote? Does your remote have a button for starting smart tv apps? Did you connect to your internet?

Otherise, is there a vizio support number? Can you get support from where you bought it?

I've got an older Vizio; at some point the YouTube app just stopped working. I think vizio just decided not to support it anymore. Now I use roku for youtube.

Vizio told me they do not support You Tube. I thought of getting Chromecast but I'm afraid of getting the wrong thing. I casted You Tube from my phone. Now I'm trying to get my Kindle as the casting source...

After my ipad died I tried to figure out how to cast from my kindle but couldn't figure it out. Then I remembered the roku...has the YouTube and amazon apps which is what i mostly use.

Can you return the Vizio for an LG or Samsumg? They are better and only slightly more expensive when on sale.

Other smart tvs are having similar problems. For the most part, I'm quite happy with the Vizio. I cast a video from my phone just to see what it would be like and it was good. My Kindle nearly discovered my LR TV but I didn't act quickly enough and now I haven't been able to get it back. I'm happy with local channels and just want on demand You Tube. However, ideally, I could just sit back on the sofa and punch in you tube and then key in whatever I want.

What do you watch on YouTube? That could be an ongoing topic.

I have a chromecast hanging from my old Sharp stupid TV. Mrs. Rodeo uses it endlessly to cast her YouTube End-Times apocalypse videos. Also ones about chemtrails, Niburu the coming doomsday planet, and Walmart having a secret FEMA camp waiting for us in the basement.

Do you have a wireless keyboard connected? I don't have one and most of my smart tv apps are too frustrating to use without one. I have resisted getting a keyboard because I would like to reduce my time in front of tv, not increase it.

I don't watch much TV. And no, I don't have a keyboard to the TV. My Imac has a wireless one though. I set up my computer desk so I can put my feet up on a desk top cushion or a bench underneath. (The sofa is still comfier.) Before I got my new TV I watched some good movies on my computer because the picture is better. I like the on demand aspect of You Tube. I spent so much time setting up my new TV that I missed out on the anniversary edition of 60 Minutes. Luckily You Tube directed me to CBS website where I got to watch the whole thing. I refuse to pay for HBO just to watch Bill Maher, so I'm satisfied with You Tube. Everybody I know hates Spectrum and complains about their high prices.
