The big deals are almost here. Some have started already. Isn't it exciting?

I love-love-LOVE Black Friday. After a late lunch we drive into Sayner (Pop. 200-some) to shop. My sister and I usually each get the same ornament at Traditions gift shop, and more often than not I get a piece of jewelry at GreenWeavers boutique. If we time it right, we head back to the cabin at dusk and arrive just as it's dark. Then fire, wine, leftovers, and hauling the holiday decos up from the basement. So yeah, I'm excited!

When did Black Friday become every day in November?

If it helps, Shorty, I got a jump on Crass Consumerism at the MMOCA Holiday Crap Fair. A hostess gift for my sister, plus several for ourselves: a muddler, two pairs of earrings, and a felted-wool-stone trivet from The Sheepish Ewe. Doesn't really fit our look, so it may turn into a gift, but it's so fucking cool I may find a way to make it work.

Also checked out Holly Cohn's show at the James Watrous gallery while we were there. Highly recommended. My husband knows her from way back, so she gave us a quick tour of the show. Highlight of an EXTREMELY cozy Saturday.

How did you get by all this time without a muddler?

As if! We had two: an inexpensive toothed beechwood muddler from W-S, and a super-cheapo (like, liquor brand cheapo) smooth muddler of indeterminate softwood. We've ditched the cheapo and replaced it with the lovely cherry muddler we got at the fair.

Admirable restraint.

Relevant detail: we use our muddlers mainly for a cocktail of my husband's invention, called... wait for it... the Black Friday.
