Kamala Harris for president

Postby Beaver » Mon Jan 21, 2019 8:15 am

Another woman running who probably won't win.

https://www.yahoo.com/gma/sen-kamala-ha ... ories.html

"On Monday, Harris further explained that she believed the American people were looking for a commander in chief with "leadership skills, experience and integrity," who will "fight on their behalf." "On all of those points, I feel very confident about my ability to lead," she said. "I feel very confident about my ability to listen and to work on behalf of the American public. The American public wants a fighter, and they want someone that is going to fight like heck for them and not fight based on self-interests. I'm prepared to do that."

Kasich is running as the Republican version of Not Trump.

Does he have anything else going for him?

he could pull in some centre and near left independents, maybe democrats (depending on how that goes) and the remnants of the kemp-lindsay republicans -- all 15 of them -- as he brought up walker being a putz by not expanding medicaid with money the federal government wanted to give back . . .

Harris will bling out soon enough with Trump's Treasury Secretary, former Goldman partner, Soro's fund manager, Clinton and Obama donator, Steve Mnuchin…. drowning in his fresh cash..... herding cattle to the slaughterhouse.

Do you like anyone, in the political sense?

Now I know why people use quote so often...

last night i saw a list of 114 democrats, 10 republicans, and a bunch of independents which most assuredly will include at least one or two greens, one or two or three libertarians, one from the american solidarity party and probably perennial candidates from the various shards that the socialist party broke into in the 1920s and afterwards . . . yeah! fill up the clown car with petrol . . .

Does the double standard still exist?

Trump was elected despite having had affairs with much younger women while married, and even leaving wives for mistresses.

Senator Harris had a well publicized romance with Willie Brown, who was then almost 30 years her senior, while he was legally married. He had been separated for over 10 years. I do not personally think of this as adultery since the Browns were separated.

But, will the double standard be used to destroy her candidacy, whie the sleazy behavior of Trump gets a pass?

We shall see.

You're right that we will see. My guess is that Trump has basically taken personal morality out of politics. How can we now fault anyone for behavior that Trump got a pass on? You can't.
We should remember that all sorts of people didn't give Trump a pass, including me. But if a Democrat is getting flack for something Trump did too, I'll be screaming bloody murder about the double standard.

If Bernie runs and forces the Dem neoliberals to resort to dirty tricks, rig the game and steal the nomination from him again for all to see, yes I'm a fan.

It's their party. Their rules. You may not like it, but that's how political parties work. They make their own rules with respect to how their nominees are chosen.

Yes, you've mentioned that before. I give Der Decider credit for whipping up the citizens with the whole shittery.

maybe that will be the one good thing to come of the trump administration -- whose business is it if someone got it on with whom? as we saw with the clinton impeachment, it seems it is the people not getting any who are the angriest and most authoritarian about this kind of thing -- it is the communism of losers and 40 year old virgins as i have pointed out before . . . fuck all those bitching motherfuckers . . . i notice those folks getting angrier and angrier about age differences too . . . fucken losers -- is it 2 steps forward and 5 steps back in america?

There will be a double-double standard coming to play from the GOP if Harris becomes a serious contender. Not only because she is a woman, but also a Dem. Remember Ned's fixation on Bill Clinton's penis? He never talks about Trump's.

Haven't made up my mind about the primary. But I'd happily vote in the general for Harris, or Warren, or Klobuchar, or Gillibrand.

Unlike the hyperactive netroots and twitterati, us ordinary Bob-in-the-street Democrats aren't all that hung up on the finer points of ideology.

[I just wanna see Trump lose to a woman in 2020.]
