Is it possible there's someone in a back room calling up crazies and convincing them to run with the sole intention of making the eventual primary winner look better?

Not to mention the Iowa straw poll had 38 people on it.

The RNC now says they want only 12 candidates at the first GOP debate.

Choices, choices.

How do they decide which 12? I know! The top 12 in fundraising, because they'll have demonstrated "viability".

Could Lindsey make Wacco look good?

Honestly, I'm trying to remember if Lindsey was nuts or irrelevant. I vaguely recall him being irrelevant, but that doesn't eliminate crazy.

Um, I was referring to Walker as Wacco. I suppose I could have said,"Could Lindsey make Scottie look good?"

Yeah, I got that. I was trying to answer your question, and I honestly can't remember enough about Lindsey to give even a half assed response.

Another likely GOP candidate is upping the ante.

Former Gov. George Pataki, who is expected to launch a presidential bid next week, said Wednesday the U.S. should deploy troops to Iraq to fight ISIS.

Pataki, a New York Republican, insisted that a deployment of U.S. combat troops would be a limited mission unlike the 2003 American invasion of Iraq -- a war then-President George W. Bush had insisted would be short-lived.

Reminds me of a line from Fireside Theatre, where a sleazy salesman says: "No, friends, no overheating like the tropical fishes."

From that same article.

"But send in troops, destroy their training centers, destroy their recruitment centers, destroy the area where they are looking to plan to attack us here and then get out."

Kinda like Afghanistan. What a joke.
