Fontana West closing

Postby Beaver » Mon Jan 07, 2019 7:57 pm ... er-letter/

To our loyal customers,

We have decided to not renew our Westside lease and have made a tough decision to close our Westside location. We have been looking for another Westside location to purchase, but the right location has not been found.

After 46 years in the outdoor industry, co-owners John and Judith will be retiring this year, so simplifying the business plan and reducing inventory so their daughter and co-owner Elizabeth can purchase the business, is important. While we love serving our customers and hate to close our Westside doors, it is the right decision for us at this time. Our downtown Madison location at 216 North Henry Street will continue operating as normal.

We want to thank you, our customers, for supporting our locally owned business. We enjoy contributing to the community we live in! Many of you have become friends as well as customers. We cannot let you know how much that means to us.

We also want to thank our employees for all the hard work they have put in over the years. They are a huge part of why we have been successful for the past 70 years.

Our Westside Store Closing Sale starts Monday, January 7, 2019. Come in and take advantage of the one million dollars of inventory we will be closing out. Everything must go - get in early for the best selection!

All sales at the Westside will be final starting on January 7th and the Store Closing Sale discount will not be valid on shop work, special orders, rentals, tickets or gift card sales. We will also be discontinuing our Adventure Rewards Program. Customers will have until March 1, 2019, to use their previously earned rewards. All gift cards will still be valid at both locations. Ski and snowboard shop work will continue at regular prices at our Westside location until March 17, 2019.

Thank you for your many years of business and friendship as we go through another change in this wild 70-year ride that is our family business and passion for the outdoors. We are looking forward to Elizabeth continuing our business downtown at 216 North Henry Street for many more years.

I bought a tent there in the eighties. I've been in there dozens of times since but the only thing I can remember buying is a belt. Everything else they sell I could get locally, cheaper.

As I remember, the closing of the fontanelle is an imortant developmental step.

Craig's Pink Squirrels #14 are the best. Are they going online? Most Americans are morbidly obese and without mobility scooters cannot shop. An hour spent in a large store or mall is a terrifying experience.
