Dekker NBA flop

Postby Beaver » Thu Nov 03, 2016 11:52 am

Sam isn't doing well in the nba. I hope he isn't remembered just for this.

Sam Dekker victim of the NBA's biggest blooper

"Dekker has only played seven NBA games in his career, but he already has his best blooper. That may or may not be a good thing."

He's actually been looking good and Houston thinks he's going to be a solid NBA player. Me, too.

Yes, in fact the Rockets picked up his option this week.

When Beaver's wrong about a sports topic, he doesn't screw around. He was also way off on the Badger football team. To be fair, so was practically everyone else, including me.

... an amazing season for the FB team. Who would've guessed Chryst had it in him? Looks like a perfect fit.

IF Sam Dekker can stay healthy....I hope for his sake he can and does. The NBA is a tough business.

Sam is only averaging 7 pts and 4 rebs per game. If his stats get better I will change the title. Last year he only played 7 minutes and had 0 pts.

He had a back injury last year, plus the Rockets had some coaching turmoil. The point being that it wasn't a lack of talent holding him back. In most respects, this is his rookie season.

Be a little patient. Sometimes great players start out slowly.

I remember in the old days, I saw a college player, Sidney Moncrief, play at Arkansas. He was a real hot-shot forward at Arkansas, drafted #4 by the Bucks. (Magic was #1, Bird was a rookie the same year, but had been drafted the year before).

Moncrief only scored 8.5 ppg as a rookie. They moved him over to guard, and he was one of 5 on the roster. He settled in his second year, and was an all-star 5 times in a row, starting his third year, and NBA all-defensive team 4x in a row, starting his fourth year.

His number 4 was retired by the Bucks, making him the first #4 to have his number retired by a pro team in Wisconsin (Paul Molitor had his #4 retired in 1999, and Brent Whatshisname more recently).

Why would that matter? I wasn't a first round pick with million dollar contract.
