With close to zero media coverage, particularly any analysis that is critical of the Israeli government and its policies, Israel has continued to pound the Gaza Strip with air strikes since the beginning of this year.

Out of sight, out of mind. While the media is focusing on how some millenials aren't aware of the holocaust, they allow another one to continue.

"NORTH CAROLINA CITY BANS ANY TRAINING WITH ISRAEL POLICE OR IDF"

http://m.jpost.com/Diaspora/North-Carol ... 552411/amp

The Durham City Council voted 6-0 to adopt the policy after a petition by a coalition of activist groups called “Demilitarize! From Durham2Palestine” – which includes Jewish Voice for Peace – garnered close to 1,400 signatures.

“The Israel Defense Forces and the Israel Police have a long history of violence and harm against Palestinian people and Jews of color,” the petition stated. “They persist in using tactics of extrajudicial killing, excessive force, racial profiling and repression of social justice movements. Such tactics have been condemned by international human rights organizations for violating the human rights of Palestinians.”

“These tactics further militarize US police forces that train in Israel, and this training helps the police terrorize black and brown communities here in the US,” it added.

Israel's military fired white phosphorus over crowded areas of Gaza repeatedly and indiscriminately in its three-week war, killing and injuring civilians and committing war crimes, Human Rights Watch said today.

In a 71-page report, the rights group said the repeated use of air-burst white phosphorus artillery shells in populated areas of Gaza was not incidental or accidental, but revealed "a pattern or policy of conduct".
...
• In one case, Israel even ignored repeated warnings from UN staff before hitting the main UN compound in Gaza with white phosphorus shells on 15 January.

"In Gaza, the Israeli military didn't just use white phosphorus in open areas as a screen for its troops," said Fred Abrahams, a senior Human Rights Watch researcher. "It fired white phosphorus repeatedly over densely populated areas, even when its troops weren't in the area and safe smoke shells were available. As a result, civilians needlessly suffered and died."

It will be one hell of a thing of Biblical proportions if Israel ever gets even 1/100th of its karma back.

There are multiple international laws that regulate white phosphorus use. Article 1 of Protocol III of the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons defines an incendiary weapon as "any weapon or munition which is primarily designed to set fire to objects or to cause burn injury to persons through the action of flame, heat, or combination thereof, produced by a chemical reaction of a substance delivered on the target". The same protocol prohibits the use of incendiary weapons against civilians (already forbidden by the Geneva Conventions) or in civilian areas.

"In the last several decades the Palestinian leadership has missed one opportunity after the other and rejected all the peace proposals it was given. It is about time the Palestinians take the proposals and agree to come to the negotiations table or shut up and stop complaining,”

First off, there is a quote function.

Second, that quote was from the Saudi Crown Prince, and their record of human rights ain't to hot themselves.

It's really exactly the opposite...

Israeli Foreign Minister: "If I were a Palestinian, I Would Have Rejected Camp David"

Netanyahu's 2011 bogus "return to 1967 borders" offer: http://world.time.com/2011/08/02/a-dram ... not-quite/

"On every single issue, all the concessions came from the Palestinians. The problem is everyone begins with what Israel wants and how much of its wants it’s willing to give up. But that’s not the relevant framework. The only relevant framework is what you are entitled to under international law."

Actually the quote function is the 4th one off. The first one is bold. (Reading from left to right, that is...if you read from right to left then you were even further off)

Second, that quote was from the Saudi Crown Prince, and their record of human rights ain't to hot themselves.

Who in this whole mess does have a "hot" human rights record? Do you agree with johnny that the Palestines are blameless in all of this?

"Then the LORD will shake Israel like a reed whipped about in a stream. He will uproot the people of Israel from this good land that he gave their ancestors and will scatter them beyond the Euphrates River, for they have angered the LORD.” (1 Kings 14:15)

"The glory of Israel will fly away like a bird, for your children will die at birth or perish in the womb or never even be conceived. Even if your children do survive to grow up, I will take them from you. I have watched Israel become as beautiful and pleasant as Tyre. But now Israel will bring out her children to be slaughtered."

The LORD says, "All their wickedness began at Gilgal; there I began to hate them. I will drive them from my land because of their evil actions. The people of Israel are stricken. Their roots are dried up; they will bear no more fruit. And if they give birth, I will slaughter their beloved children." (Hosea 9:11-16)

"3 So Israel yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor. And the Lord’s anger burned against them. 4 The Lord said to Moses, “Take all the leaders of these people, kill them and expose them in broad daylight before the Lord, so that the Lord’s fierce anger may turn away from Israel.”... 8 ... He drove the spear into both of them, right through the Israelite man and into the woman’s stomach. Then the plague against the Israelites was stopped; 9 but those who died in the plague numbered 24,000." (Numbers 25:3-9)

Doctors Without Borders...
“Unacceptable and inhuman” violence by Israeli army against Palestinian protesters in Gaza

...55 dead and 2,271 wounded—including 1,359 wounded with live ammunition, is staggering. It is unbearable to witness such a massive number of unarmed people being shot in such a short time.

I think Israel may well be overreacting. But is it possible that people wouldn't be killed if they stayed away from the border after being warned to stay away from the border?
Maybe it's just me. I'd stay the fuck away from the border.
