I like the chairs and sunny ones. And the Barry Alvarez one is great.

Too heavy to lift, I would think.

I've made a point of changing my bike routes to see as many as I can. I've seen basically all of them in the campus/downtown/isthmus/Monona area, with the exception of the one at Madison Park that was tossed into the lake. Hopefully it wasn't too damaged and will be back soon.

Drunk Terrace Bucky ended up in the lake - go figure. I wonder if the people retrieving the statuette are somehow connected to the ones that decided that this Bucky needed to be in the lake.
Thanks Bwis53 for the link. I have yet to check them all out to pick my favs.

There must be something wrong with me. I thought it was kind of funny. But then people are so geeked up about them that I'd gotten a little annoyed by it.

My first impulse agreed with yours. Of COURSE the Bucky from the Terrace ended up a mile away, floating face down in Lake Mendota, surely the sad product of drunken college revelry.

Were it the Bucky from Olbrich Gardens, not funny and kinda sinister.

What makes these things "life-sized?" And am I the only person who thinks this is a nasty/ugly looking mascot?

Yes Badgers are mean. Where is the Alvarez one?

160 lb statue bolted to 500 lb concrete base. Paint touch up will cost $100.

It wasn't "from the Terrace". The one that was thrown into the lake was from James Madison Park and ended up a few feet from where it had been displayed.

Well shit, that's not nearly as fun. I read some post on FB that said it floated over from the Terrace, and everything on the internet is true, so...

Mob hitmen encase their victims in concrete boots to make sure they don't float.

Just sayin'.

No.

The first time I saw one, out at the Warner Park Rec Center, I turned to my spouse and said, "I'm not sure about this Bucky. He looks a little...aggro."

Then I had to explain to her what 'aggro' meant.

"You know those metal dudes who sing like they're The Cookie Monster? Or the crowd outside 'Wando's' at bar time?"

Point of clarification: The Cookie Monster himself is not aggro. For a monster, he's pretty chill.

I still have a Bucky patch, which I embroidered over to give Bucky a smile. Also have a genuine smiling Bucky patch.
