Civil War Monuments/Shots fired by elementary school

Postby you must be joking » Fri Apr 13, 2018 7:21 am

So our wise members of the city council and the ultra wise mayor of Madison, Paul Soglin have spent a bit of time grappling with the HUGE problem of the monuments to the fallen Civil War soldiers that fought for the south in that war. And our fair City will spend even more time and resources in the removal of those monuments.
http://host.madison.com/wsj/news/local/govt-and-politics/madison-city-council-votes-to-remove-confederate-monument-at-forest/article_23bb9ab1-eb46-526d-8bbc-88a25f8a9c00.html

But the day following the debate on the HUGE problem of the civil war monuments, we in our fair city were apprised of another incident, which is becoming very common, which was shots fired by an elementary school on the north east side. This caused the school to be locked down. As a result of those shots fired, police discovered that there was a home with a 17 year old girl who was home at the time, that was hit at least 4 times with gun shots.
http://www.wkow.com/story/37941307/2018/04/12/police-investigate-discovery-of-shell-casing-near-madisons-mendota-elementary-school

So while the city council and the mayor grapple with such HUGE problems of civil war monuments we have an ongoing problem of young men shooting at each other and others in many different areas of our fair city of Madison.

What's it going to take?

Is it going to take a bunch of people at a popular venue like the Farmers Market to be gunned down by stupid gang bangers who couldn't hit the broad side of a barn when shooting at each other for the city council and the mayor to wake the FUCK UP and deal with the REAL ISSUES of Madison?

What's it going to take?

What's it going to take for the mayor and the city council to pull their collective heads out of their ASSES?

It is becoming increasingly obvious to me that the city council and the mayor of Madison are oblivious to the real problems of our fair city. That when confronted with the real problems of Madison all they can do is say:

LA,LA,LA,LA,La,La,La,La,La,La,La,La,La,La,La,La,La,La

Perhaps it is time for us, the citizens of our fair city to find people that are more concerned with stupid gang bangers than they are with civil war monuments to represent us. Perhaps it is time we find a Mayor who will provide Real Leadership and deal with the REAL problems of our time.

But Nah, why bother.

Just keep voting for those who are progressive democrats and keep the status quo.

Have you ever heard of the NRA and how they've spent literally $100s of millions of $s misinterpreting the 2nd amendment for several decades including paying attorneys to write technical articles to make thier misinterpretation seem correct, and are you familiar with how their paid lackeys in Congress block politicians from enacting pro-2nd amendment regulations to make our country safer?

Or...

The Supreme Court has interpreted the 2nd, not the NRA.

Ah, the 77 Square Miles Surrounded By A Sea Of Reality will NEVER resist anything with visible, "Gosh I'm Nice" endorphin ramping benefits and hidden costs.

Anywho, it could be worse; some BIKIE getting caught in a crossfire on something FAR more secularly sacrosanct: the BIKIE Path/Lane/Trail/Boulevard/Bridge System.

The ymbj argument is familiar. You have one problem, so you can't possibly deal with anything else at the same time. Seems a bit, well, simple-minded.

It's odd that a certain someone didn't respond with something along the lines of
What have you's done, what are you's doing, and what will you's do going forward to address the problem?

Funny that.

The Gotch,

You are correct. How did I miss that one! Of course; if a couple of thugs get into a shooting match and a couple of spandex wearing bikers get mowed down, well that would be a city wide emergency with the Police being ordered to kick down doors and haul away the bad guys.

No matter what, the mayor and the council would go to any length to protect the "Bike Friendly" atmosphere here in Madison.

But while we are removing monuments to those who fought in the Civil War for the south, what about the more obvious reminder of slavery?

What about the name of our fair city?

After all, James Madison was a slave owner!

What about West and East Washington Ave?

After all, Washington owned slaves!

James Madison Memorial High School!

But let's not stop there. In order to be pure, we must remove all taint of the past wrongs of slavery.

We must do a comprehensive background check on anyone working in city government to see if any of their ancestors going back 4-5 generations, owned or was involved in the trading of slaves, fought for the south, supplied or received any goods or services directly related to slavery and fire them immediately.

To include the mayor and anyone on the council.

Remove the statue of Abraham Lincoln from Bascom Hill as Lincoln at first sought a compromise to war.

Let us go through the libraries and remove all works by Ken Burns and Shelby Foote and others about the Civil war who had a tendency to paint those who fought for the south as noble and honorable men.

Pile all those works in a great heap and burn them!

Smash the windows of those who's families were involved in slavery 4-5 generations back.

Point is: To what extent will the mayor and the council go to appeal to the snowflakes in order to get elected or to run for higher office?

Point is: If one were to go around the Square at the Farmers Market and ask those attending what they think the priority of the City of Madison should be: Removing monuments to the Civil War soldiers who fought for the south or doing something about the increasing number of "Shots Fired" incidents here in our fair city, what do you think would be the priority?

Hmmmm.......

As soon as the alt right notices that it's being used against them, they'll quit using it. And find another one. Like cuck. They really like putting cuck on things.

PERIOD!

Any discussion of such ought include nascent Progressivism and its passionate view of eugenics, am I right?

If memory serves, their desire to…um…regulate reproduction and the population wasn’t restricted to a certain segment of humanity (Blacks), and it's abundantly clear they were far more systemically-n-diabolically hateful, bigoted, discriminatory, elitist, classist, and racist over a far greater spectrum than any slaveowner, or fringe group of White Supremacists.

Why? Because they sought a Greater Good AND had the approval of their own consciences.

Not to over-simplify, (reference “White Trash: The 400-Year Untold History of Class in America” for the rest of the story) but back at the turn of the 20th century, the newly minted Administrative State was coming off a clear victory disabling the evil Corporate Trusts. A goal achieved no longer motivates and, feeling their oats, what to do now? Hey, howse about improving humanity?

Natural selection improved society over time, but a glacially slow pace, could these whiz kids jump start that with “Scientific Selection?”

Perhaps; I mean if you could improve flora-n-fauna by selective breeding, why not extend those efforts to humans? Heck, what could possibly go wrong?

While that failed Austrian artist was late to the party and did take the ”Master Race” concept to another level, he deserves no mention for its emergence.

That dubious honor goes to, amongst others, Margaret “Human Weeds” Sanger, whose dream of a “Race Of Thoroughbreds,” wouldn’t have had the same cachet if its ‘selective breeding’ approach hadn’t been ‘selective’ enough.

And there were no shortage of local aficionados, of the prominent type even, breakin' trail, bustin' sod, cuttin' brush, kickin’ ass, & takin’ names.

Heck, right here on campus, the U.W. Madison (GO BADGERS)! was in the thick of the Eugenics craze.

Charles Van Hise, Edward Ross, John R. Commons, and “Progressive Political Economist and Social Gospel Advocate” Richard T. Ely were of…um…similar mindset; all but Ross would be considered for a Bucky Mt. Rushmore.

Van Hise Elementary School has “sister” Velma Hamilton Middle School, which may soften some of the historical stigma, of which most aren’t aware.

And I’ve heard no call for renaming Van Hise Hall on campus yet; you?

Before you walk and chew gum at the same time, ymbj, better decide which is more important. If you decide gum chewing, you'll fall over! If you decide walking, you'll bite your tongue! That's your argument in a nutshell.

Here's one... A new lynching memorial to slaves to open this April in Montgomery, Allah-bama.

https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/lync ... ODtopVideo

The memorial captures the brutality and the scale of lynchings throughout the South, where more than 4,000 black men, women and children, died at the hands of white mobs between 1877 and 1950. Most were in response to perceived infractions -- walking behind a white woman, attempting to quit a job, reporting a crime or organizing sharecroppers.

Stevenson and a team of researchers spent years documenting those lynchings, combing through court records and local newspapers...
Their findings yielded a roll call of names...

This is why Soglin is on the right track, and why the right is wrong.
