Good thing you added that, since no one could have figured it out from the subject line.

Posting 'canceled' was a way to bump the thread so people would see it. It was canceled today so just adding canceled to the subject would not have alerted fans.

OK. Any idea why? VO5 is very reliable, so I hope everything is ok with them.

Never mind. Edgewater cancelled it due to noise complaints.

Does this mean that disco is truly dead?

But the night took a turn after the event apparently prompted a noise complaint from a neighbor — rumored to be a powerful local attorney.

Fred Mohs lives close by. If it was him, why didn't they call him out by name?

Maybe because he is powerful.

Ugly elitist rears his head

First off, Natty Nation ain't no "cheap band". They are a long-established group of professionals who have entertained audiences worldwide, including a USO tour for the troops stationed overseas.

Secondly, you want a damn DRESS CODE for open-to-the-public outdoor events?! *rolls eyes*

What an asshole...

It'd really be a shame if a bunch of packer-clad folks happened to gather near...oh, never mind.

Mohs is just calling Edgewater on their shit. They WANT to be a luxury hotel but can't subsist on that alone. Instead its hello riffraff. He says it wasn't him who called in the complaint though. Doesn't surprise me I'm sure there are lots of old people in his apt. building that don't like the noise.

The cancel was short notice and vo5 has a big following. I wonder how many fans will show up expecting a show. I wonder if v05 and the extra staff hired will get paid in full. How much extra food and drink ordered will go to waste? What a mess.

Is everyone who attends a free music events in our city considered "riffraff" or is that just the audience for disco and reggae bands?

and I really wanna make a Rocky Horror joke in here somewhere, but can't quite make it work...

Everyone, including Opera in the park attendees.

There's more going on here. A noise complaint alone doesn't shut down an event like this. The Isthmus article goes into it. I think the Edgewater knew they were on shaky ground.
