Where are the conservatives that used to post?

Postby Henry Vilas » Tue Nov 20, 2018 10:09 am

While liberals have always outnumbered conservatives on this forum (which reflect the political makeup of Madison), many have left. Roy found true love and is gone. Ned hardly even bothers to post silly GIFs anymore. BDog left in a huff. And one trick pony I Must Be Joking only posts in defense of his anti-abortion stance.

I guess they must be having a tough time defending the current leadership in the GOP, especially the president.

I've noticed that conservatives don't have any ideas any more. The stuff they post here is snark or has something to do with their problem with racial/ethnic/etc. hatreds, or is along the lines of taking away the social safety net and giving the rich more tax breaks. It's a pretty tiresome agenda they have to push, and I expect they get tired of it, just like we do.

If you say Beetlejuice three times "The Gotch" will magically appear.

Most of them are probably having financial problems because they are drowning in debt, or struggling to keep their job and house, because of Republican economic policies, or can't afford health care. They are realizing what a bad deal Repubs offer.

I am holding out that Roy's new relationship made him smarter and more self aware. Jokey is still around but seems to be reeling from the counter arguments more than he used to and taking longer to come back for more.

No idea about Ned, but my current theory is that he has better luck trolling other forums. The one of those three that I think is in the worst financial shape is Roy but if he can hang on to that woman he has every chance of becoming fully functional again.

I think with Roy, it's a combination of having found someone, and just not having much fun around here. Unlike some of our conservatives, I think Roy took it seriously and wasn't just here to get a rise out of people.

He dropped by in October to post a headline but other than that, nothing.

i agree completely. furthermore, he/is was an rather good explicator of an uncommon point of view here -- if he is gone that is very unfortunate . . . any flaming he does seems to me to driven by the way a lot of forons give him shit . . .

Indeed, that's what he said he was. But he wasn't.

I've had the experience of being told that I was not a liberal by a conservative who had a strawman idea of what a liberal is. After that experience, I err on the side of accepting people for who they believe they are. I can't be objective about conservatives anymore, because the term no longer seems to mean what it used to mean. I can tell a Trump supporter "you're not a conservative" and she'd scream bloody murder that she is so, but it's not a conservatism that anyone from as recently as 5 years ago can recognize.

I think all the conservatives are driving their RVs around the US looking for a home.

Some of us need to fill the void. I will start.

November has been so cold it proves global warming is a myth.
Trump is the best president since Nixon. He is protecting us from Iran, Mexico, N Korea, and Canada. USA! USA!
I hate taxes, regulations, nature, and the gubment. Buy more guns.
