What's up with Igor?

Postby Beaver » Wed Aug 30, 2017 1:52 pm

Why is Igor commenting on musty old topics from 2003-2012? It's like old sludge rising up and floating in Houston flood waters.

It's his way of protesting fflambau's prolific posting habits. A small but vocal group are united in their desire to stop her from doing what she is doing, but they all seem to have very different ideas of how to accomplish that.

Some put that particular user on ignore, and others start multiple threads calling her out by name. Some say nothing-whatsoever 'cept to bump up a Pro-Trump thread, while a small clan of folks were posting totally off-topic stuff in the threads they found offensive.

Lots of folks trying lots of ways to silence her, but nevertheless she persists...

Thanks for the explanation. Strange way of protesting Flambeau and it's not working, but neither are the other methods.

Flambeau is female? I thought male. Hard to tell sometimes these days.

I don't mind thread proliferation - just proliferation of multiple threads with a correlation coefficient of .9 or above. If we can agree to have a single long thread about guns, it seems like "CSA statues" could have been a thread, "Nazi outing" could be a thread, etc.

Pasting entire swaths of an article seems to be against good board etiquette as well, rather than a link and maybe 2 or 3 key sentences.

i would think that posting for pay is clearly not in keeping with the ideal gestalt of the place, and it *is* advertising, even if the writer is an alt-right anti-semite masquerading as an anti-trumper . . . what say u/youse, admin/s? i am not talking about the neo-pseudo mc carthyite "this appears to be an advert" tag u occasionally see at wikipaedia used by he old timers or whomever to freeze out new contributors for whatever reason -- this is out-front stone cold gaming the system, both i d p f and whatever media matters mutation ttactical nnetwork aabuser has managed to join -- he/she/they are actually wasting that organisation's money, ill-gotten gains or not . . .

Admin must be too busy watching Hurricane news. Flambeau is like a hurricane on the forum. Hurricane Flambeau floods us with new threads.

and perhaps a better description of what igor et al are doing is filling sandbags . . . it was interesting to see that "why did h r c lose" thread back in the legitimate hit parade.

of course one workable answer which fits the available data is that corrupt and incompetent pollsters and pundits figured that repeating the bit about trump being hopelessly behind over and over again like the text of a spell in a grimoire to conjure an elemental or produce a tulpa or whatever would just make it happen, and it was enough however to lull state-level campaign folks halfway to sleep and let up on the accelerator right before the election . . . that's also what is comes of every yahoo who can work a blog being able to be taken by lots of people as some kind of journalist . . . i would like to think that one could expect better of the screaming heads on the networks and people working for organisations like the major newspapers and wire services,a good percentage of which ostensibly have journalism degrees, whose general studies requirements must have included at least one semester of maths and more commonly a couple of algebra, calculus and the like and at least one on statistics in addition to the compulsory courses touching on how law, philosophy, ethics, and the history of the media and communications inform how they should do their work, but apparently that was too much to ask too . . .
