Death Star strikes the forum

by Ned Flounders if millions of GIFs suddenly cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced...

So, PhotoBucket seems to have gone ahead and pulled the plug, as threatened. Vast numbers of GIFs posted by many of the Forum's finest citizens have gone up in smoke:

Fortunately, JoeT's graphs still seem to be there.

Fear not, young jedi. Photobucket has not ended. They are working on a new and improved site. Do not question the power of the force.

Ah, no. The problem is not some temporary change to the Photobucket website. It's that PB made an ill-considered decision to start charging very steep fees for linking from other sites (e.g., the Forum) to photos on PB. ... aid-update

Anyone not interested in paying PB $400/year to be allowed to link to their own photos can find other, better image hosting services for the future.

But it kind of makes a hash out of a lot of old posts on the Forum. Like, say, bdog's post from last week:

Man, I haven't visited Photobucket in years. It's still attached to an old Yahoo account that's long since deleted.

But I have a few photos hanging out:

My girlfriend and I jumping off a cliff circa 1990

My sister's wedding and pjbogart in a tux!

Hmmm... didn't charge me anything to link. Maybe if you want more space for uploads...
