Lamest of TDPF

Postby bdog » Sat Feb 20, 2016 7:18 am

inspired by gargantua.

- small print asides
- "Thanks Obama!"
- "Benghazi!"

These were not lame the first few times someone used them but now they are.

Let's all work together to come up with NEW material.

Thanks, Obama!

It will be a peaceful day in Benghazi before that gets old.

Are you sure you don't have some malware on your computer? This site was particularly slow for me when I had a wee bit of an infection.

I can log on fast, but when I zip down to the last response on a thread, I have to wait for it to finish loading. A few days ago it loaded down a blue old style forum, just once. Everything is slick except getting to the bottom of a thread. (I've got McAfee)

When I submitted the last response it only showed what I typed to the z and had to finish loading.

It might be that the site is loading ok for you, but the ads that come from another server are hanging up. If you don't have one, add an ad blocker, or ( if on windows ) use a HOST file block.

Absolutely. Because our ads are so incredibly intrusive that allowing us to use a small revenue model to support a FREE service is just not an option.

But, to the issue at hand:

Bwis - Not sure why your loads are slow. Our ad server is Google who seem to have a lot of clout on the internet, so I doubt it is the serving of ads. You saw the default blue design last week for a bit due to a couple updates that had to be done but I'm not seeing anything on our end that would indicate a problem with page rendering.
Perhaps if you could try a different browser and see if you see the same results? That might help track down the problem.

Intrusive or not, ads are often the reason for slow page load. A tiny ad can stop page load completely. Not saying that it is the problem in this case.

Huh, you're looking for an advert executive? Too bad I don't know much about that field. I'd love to move back to Madison (but not to work as a teacher there).
