We are so drunk

Another strong showing for Madison and WI. Have you been to Total Wine? What a great place. Burrrp!

http://www.wbay.com/content/news/Green- ... 68671.html

"For another year, Green Bay comes in first in USA Today's ranking of the drunkest cities in America.

It's a study that measures the percentage of people who excessively drink on a regular basis. That means, four or more drinks at a time for women. For men, five or more. According to USA Today, 26.5% of adults in Green Bay excessively drink. This is the only metro area in Wisconsin with a higher excessive drinking rate than the statewide average.

Here is the list of the top 20 cities:

1). Green Bay, Wis.
2). Eau Claire, Wis.
3). Appleton, Wis.
4). Madison, Wis.
5). Fargo, N.D.-Minn.
6). Oshkosh-Neenah, Wis.
7). Missoula, Mont.
8). Grand Forks, N.D.-Minn.
9). Wausau, Wis.
10). La Crosse-Onalaska, Wis.-Minn.
11). Mankato-North Mankato, Minn.
12). Fond du Lac, Wis.
13). Iowa City, Iowa
14). Dubuque, Iowa
15). Sheboygan, Wis.
16). Watertown-Fort Drum, N.Y.
17). Lincoln, Neb.
18). Fairbanks, Alaska
19). Ames, Iowa
20). Milwaukee-Waukesha-West Allis, Wis."

Sheboygan needs to step up its game.

Interesting that all of them, with the possible exception of Lincoln, Nebraska have long winters.

Actually the USDA plant hardiness zone map puts the middle of Nebraska in the same zone as Madison, implying our winters are similar.

There are variations within the zones. I used to know someone from Lincoln, and it gets cold and snows there. But not as cold and snowy as we get, and not quite as long. Anyway, they do get enough winter that I had an internal debate over whether or not to include them.

At least Grand Forks is just happy rather than being a assigned a dehumanizing rank like every other city.
