Local beer I have been liking lately

Postby john_titor » Wed Mar 23, 2016 8:47 pm

Next Door Brewing Co. - Luminous. I really like this beer. Give it a shot.

Also enjoyed Ale Asylum's Hush Money on tap. Odd for me as their offerings are usually a last resort. http://isthmus.com/food-drink/beer/ale- ... money-ipa/

Waiting for more Bunny Green Toe.

p.s. Not local but enjoyed none-the-less on tap: Toppling Goliath Golden Nugget

Velveteen Habit IPA, also from Ale Asylum. First had it on tap at the Laurel. Now in sixers. Gotta love the name.

After two bad experiences, I promised myself that I would never again buy a Next Door beer. My first was a few months after they opened. I couldn't finish it. About a year later, after they parted ways with the brewer, I gave them another chance. Same result. I subsequently learned that while they did let the brewer go, they kept his recipes, so at least I know what's to blame. I hope they're really better now. I like the food and I really wanted to like the beer.

I had One Barrel's 5th Element Rye IPA this past weekend. Very nice, all hoppy and sharp.

That's a good one! I'm quite fond of Three Sheeps First Kiss IPA. Started out as a seasonal and is now a year-round offering.

Stock up, it's a seasonal release and should be out of stock within a month. Excellent beer, great logo.

I tried the Velveteen Habit based on the comments. Wasn't a fan, but for the reasons why I usually don't like AA - too malty. Plus 12 bucks was too much for that beer. Local store did not have the others, but I will keep looking.

Agree on the price. I thought that the malt balanced out the hops pretty well, but if you aren't into malts, I get it. The balance is hard to get just right.

Ah yes! That's where I bought it. That price point is fine with me.

My father picked up some Zwickel Bier from the New Glarus brewery last week and I had a few yesterday. It was fresh and amazing and super crushable. The pleasant weather was also very conducive to enjoying them.

Lake Louie Prairie Moon Farmhouse Ale. Nice break from IPA's. Sure would be nice with some warmer weather.
