10 Best Restaurants in Wisconsin

Postby Beaver » Fri Mar 09, 2018 2:57 pm

AJ Bombers #1? No way, just a burger joint. They were in Madison but failed. 3, 4 and 10 are in Madison. Mariner's is good. I wouldn't put Old Fashioned in my top 10 for Madison, much less all of WI. Never been to Wonder bar and don't think I will bother going: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=70431&hilit=wonder+bar

Maybe you shouldn't rely on a website run by a marketing company who gets paid by businesses to push digital content.

Just ate at Mariners last week. The steak was good and their hash browns are excellent. They have changed their clam chowder recipe and is now something I will not order. I always looked forward to the clam chowder and hash browns in the past.

If you's want an appropriately kitschy streak joint, Milwaukee's "Five O'Clock Steakhouse" (formerly the ''Five O'Clock Club") can't be beat.

Heads up: it's in a REAL rough neighborhood (Jeffrey Dahmer's place was on the same block) and if you's want you's car still there, pay someone to watch it.

That's a strange list.

Lists like this are virtually meaningless. Either the spots are paid for or they are just a random collection of restaurants throughout the state that the author tossed together in an attempt to look inclusive of all cuisine, budgets and geography.

Any list that has AJ Bombers as the best restaurant in Wisconsin should be immediately dismissed.

Of the rest of the list I've eaten at

The Mariner's Inn - at least I'm 90% sure that I did. The food must not have been anything too special, I can't recall what I might have had.

Safe House - the spy theme is fun for about ten minutes. The food is awful.

The Old Fashioned - Very good but being on a "best" list for the whole state is at least a bit questionable.

Yeah, the list is lame, but Blink Bonnie is pretty fab. We stop in a few times a year. It's cozy in the winter, but the wait can get long, so it's even more fun in the summer when you can knock back Old Fashioneds on the picnic tables outside while you wait.
