10 best places for pancakes in WI

Postby Beaver » Fri Mar 09, 2018 2:50 pm

3, 7, and 9 are in Madison. Aren't we lucky? I would put Mickies ahead of Pancake cafe, although Pancake cafe looks cleaner than Mickies.. Never been to Cottage cafe.

Cottage Cafe used to be within walking distance. It's one of the last real diners. You can usually find a seat but breakfast lunch and dinner were always busy. Haven't been back there in six or seven years.

If those are the same as the blue corn pancakes at Tex Tubb's, I agree! Especially with the ghost pepper maple syrup and blueberry butter :D

Daisy Cafe also belongs on the list. They make a great multigrain pancake using the Porchlight Products mix.

Pancakes had long moved to the desperate times category until I had Swedish Pancakes. I don’t get them a lot because breakfast is lame, but when I do, everybody knows Al Johnson’s sure hits the spot:

If you're looking for Swedish pancakes a little closer in try the Citrus Cafe in Janesville (http://www.citruscafe208.com/menu4.html). You'd have to forego the Swedish meatballs on the side, though they do have chorizo and gyro meat if you're looking for a pan-European breakfast. And I've got to say that the pimped-up versions are way too much for me for breakfast -- just powdered sugar, lingonberry butter and maybe a little maple syrup and they're just fine, thank you very much. Sweet toasty piles of slightly rubbery eggy goodness :D

Pancake House is a top place in Madison, near Middleton. I think they have Swedish pancakes. Also, Manna cafe has good pancakes. Monty's Blue plate and Hubbard ave diner are pretty good. We are lucky to have so many good places around here.

5518 University Ave. Original Pancake house. But now I see they are a nationwide chain, so not as Original as I thought: http://www.originalpancakehouse.com/locations.html

What are pancakes? http://www.originalpancakehouse.com/ph_pancakes.html
