Re: What's it going to take?

...the racial make up...a matter of the race...people who do not identify as white...young white punks...minorities in Madison... This is not a matter of race... Still earnin' that moniker, I see. This doesn't justify crime, but part of the feedback from the meetings was that young black people are...

In addition, he retains his post on the Board of Regents. Smart move.

Re: What's it going to take?

Perhaps those ritzy stores need to invest in better security. Madison Metro moving the bus stop to the edge of the parking lot sure didn't help. Can I assume there are plenty of security cameras to catch the action? I seem to recall that at one time West Towne didn't want buses near the stores. The...

Among other reasons, I don’t feel my kids would be safe at the west transfer point.

Your concern is justified. They wouldn't be.

Re: You are a rude, terrible person

Trump apologists (what a shitty job that must be) are saying that Trump didn't go because the weather grounded his helicopter. If only something on wheels, let's call it a "limousine", existed so we didn't have to fly everywhere.

Re: What's it going to take?

According to the police, much of this activity is committed by a gang, of roughly about 30 individuals. There have been a number of community meetings involving the police, alders, and judges. Everyone involved is frustrated by the apparent limitations on what tools are available to deal with this. ...

I wonder what legal action the school district can take. Doing a Nazi salute is horribly insensitive and incredibly stupid, but it's not actually illegal, is it?

Re: Ironworker takes on Career Politician, Paul Ryan

The first and second districts have been gerrymandered so that it is almost impossible for a Democrat to win the first or a Republican to win the second. The fact Bryce came so close in that disctrict is impressive I didn't think it was very close at all. How do you define close? I don't remember t...

Re: You are a rude, terrible person

So we see the magic of lowered expectations. We no longer expect decorum. We no longer expect the truth. And we no longer expect logic and reason. Guess what? We no longer get those things. It's not a big deal anymore.

Ok, so we all have a few guilty pleasures. Like the movie you happened to see the night you lost your virginity and you always have a soft spot in your heart for it. Don't tell me about a great movie that others should see, tell me about a terrible movie that you can't seem to shake your affection ...

Re: Veteran's Day

To me, thank you for your service is akin to saying thoughts and prayers after a mass shooting. I don't understand this. What about when people thank you for doing other things? Is it that you think they should be doing more than just thanking you (which seems to be the general criticism of thought...

Acosta baited Trump and he took it. Yup. Hook line and sinker. It seems like a very long time ago now, but it really isn't. There was a time, before January 2017, when a President would deftly handle situations like that so easily that it would barely be noticed. They would do it with a smile. And ...

From the link... “Their project being complete, the team disbanded.” “Stern discipline being called for, the offending student was expelled.” In both cases, the initial dependent clause is not superfluous to the meaning of the entire sentence: it is integral. The team disbanded because the project ...

The house looks to be in solid, albeit dated, shape. If I had to pick one reason that it is having trouble selling I'd blame it on all that paneling.

I wonder if it smells like poop from MMSD when the wind comes from the southwest.

Re: Not an Onion headline

I think that even some Republicans caught on to and tired of his continual self-promotion at the expense of everyone except his well-heeled campaign contributors. That's why he underperformed in his base counties, in spite of all the dire warnings, money, and dishonest campaign ads. Some of his vote...
