Re: "Soglin will not seek, nor will he accept..."

Not surprised and frankly, I'd still vote for Paul over the others.

Re: Car thefts

It's only a matter of time before a citizen, legally carrying a weapon, is assaulted and fears, however irrationally, for their life and whammo. Another dead teenager, another city gripped in racial animus, another crisis.

Re: Civil War Monuments/Shots fired by elementary school

I may have missed it, but exactly when is the monument scheduled for removal? I'm guessing under the cover of darkness? Or are they awaiting legal challenges?

Re: Kavanaugh isn't a rapist. I know. Let's Vote.

But he's the one nominated for USSC, he has not apologized , asked forgiveness or shown remorse, and the time is 2018 not 1992. In fact, he categorically denied it ever happened. Which puts all of his defenders in the position of having to smear someone who ( and I can't believe I know this but thi...

the third string QB looks better than Kizer, and appears to have that Favre gunslinger mentality.

Re: Floods

Noted Madison historian Dave Mollenhoff agrees with this line of thinking: https://madison.com/wsj/opinion/column/dave-mollenhoff-lake-mendota-should-be-significantly-lowered/article_807c4c6a-7a09-5d20-a279-5943c30122bb.html It's an opion piece. Madison.com at least had the sense to file it as such...

Re: Floods

Remember, when we have had drought years, Lake Mendota and the upper Yahara don't get anywhere close to maximum levels because the Tenney dam still allows water to flow (why wouldn't it?). The big reason we have an issue this year is because we've had plenty of rain AND Mendota has been kept higher ...

Re: Floods

There was a time when Mendota levels were kept lower AND the Army Corps of Engineers would dredge that Yahara channel every couple of years, but that dredging has ceased as county budgets dropped during the recession. When was that? Nineties? Eighties? Does the downriver Yahara need dredging too? T...

Re: Floods

A big piece of the recreational usage on Mendota is the Yahara River. I'd posit that more than half of the craft on Mendota at any given time enter the lake via the Yahara channel to the north. The marinas there are packed with everything from shallow draft power boats to deeper keeled sailboats. I'...

Re: What does this mean for homeowners?

Cool..thanks for the info! Now I know that when i revamp my massive driveway and pad, I should use permeable pavers, reduce it's size, and ask for a reduction:)

What does this mean for homeowners?

from today's WSJ: "Fees charged to residents for stormwater management should also be adjusted “to cover the true costs,” Rhodes-Conway said, while property owners who retain water or allow more rain to penetrate the soil instead of running across pavement could receive rebates. Rhodes-Conway s...

Re: Floods

I have never seen the jetty on Lake Mendota at Tenney Park so close to being submerged. If that dam and lock system were to fail....would be unimaginable. Not only would the contents of Mendota rush through the near east side, I'm thinking it would fill Monona so fast that the John Nolen Dr. causewa...
