Re: Tulsi Gabbard for president

NBC News, to Claim Russia Supports Tulsi Gabbard, Relies on Firm Just Caught Fabricating Russia Data for the Democratic Party Glenn Greenwald February 3 2019, 7:49 a.m. NBC News published a predictably viral story Friday, claiming that “experts who track websites and social media linked to Russia h...

Re: 97% Scientist Consensus: global warming is man-made

Every time Russia is mentioned in this forum, you come to their defense. You even denied that Russia was behind the poison attacks in Great Britain, in the face of overwhelming evidence that they were involved. The military industrial complex is on a tear now. Pushing like crazy for their new cold ...

Re: 97% Scientist Consensus: global warming is man-made

While it is true that most (although certainly not all) of my posts have been about Russia it's not fair to say I defend Russia no matter what the charges are. Examples, please. Examples of what? Me not defending Russia against any and all charges? Make some sense. As for knee-jerk defense of Russi...

Re: 97% Scientist Consensus: global warming is man-made

Nor are all the foreign trouble makers in Russia. One particularly bad twitter account based in Brazil was recently suspended. This was the account that showed the very heavily edited post of the Catholic kids and an American Indian drummer. More gas on the fire. Of course this could be a Russian a...

Bullshit. The U.S. government (with NATO) is the aggressor and at least as expert in psychological manipulation.

Re: 97% Scientist Consensus: global warming is man-made

It is not readily apparent to me what Russia stands to gain from sowing doubts about climate science. Other than giving us something else to fight about of course. Considering that Russia is highly dependent on exports of fossil fuels, I would think that there are many in Russia, inside and outside...

Re: 97% Scientist Consensus: global warming is man-made

It's just nonyuppie's knee jerk defense of Russia, no matter what the charges are. I created this account in December, 2014 in this forum to make people aware of (and criticize) Mark Pocan's vote in favor of sanctions against Russia. I thought that the Democrats were deliberately cultivating ill-wi...

Re: 97% Scientist Consensus: global warming is man-made

... maybe American but often Russian ... Global warming is an established theory, meaning the scientific evidence is so overwhelming it is considered to be as close as one can get to proven fact in an area where absolute proof is impossible. It's unfortunate that you have to write that last sentenc...

Re: Might as well not even vote?

Missing from this discussion is the potential to send a message to one of the mainstream parties by voting for a third-party candidate. Voting for Jill Stein in 2016, although it wasn't going to result in her winning, was the only way to cast an anti-war vote -- pathetic, but true. If enough people ...

Re: Turn off the air condtioning

Leaving the doors open while the air conditioning is on is common in stores in tropical South America. I think it's considered a courtesy to passersby. There were big department stores that used to do it in Jamica Center in New York City, in a neighborhood in Queens with many South American immigran...

Re: They admit Russia meddled

I'll just put my two cents in as well: remember Florida 2000. A tiny handful of votes could have thrown the Presidential election the other way, meaning no Iraq invasion, no Guantanamo Bay, no Abu Ghraib, no John Yoo, no Dick Cheney, etc. No matter how imperfect you think the Democrats are, at this...

Re: General Mattis Offers Resignation as Secretary of Defense

The Turks and Kurds have been going at it for so long, the U.S. couldn't have made much of a difference unless they were willing to stay there permanently or have a serious war with Turkey, a NATO ally.

Re: Netherlands

I'd like to learn Dutch and some of the local dialects -- and Frisian. They're interesting because they're so close to English. It's not easy because everybody speaks English so well that it's too easy to bail out whenever you're at a loss for words. I've managed a few three-sentence conversations b...
