Re: Hill Farms Rezoning and Redevelopment

I get the the neighborhood may be nervous about sudden change, but they should be pretty excited that their property values are about to pop: http://cityobservatory.org/the-economic ... -evidence/

Re: Secret plan near West Towne Mall

Word on the street is that its not Exact, but is another company broadly in the world of healthcare, but more on the administrative side. I for one will be excited to see that area by West Towne redeveloped. There's so much land out there just covered with fading surface parking lots. Density and ta...

Re: House hunting

I know the people in that $2.5M Middleton house...and its a divorce thats prompting the sale. Also because the money is running out from the sale of daddy's company. Also, news flash--thats not going to sell for $2.5. If you had that kind of money, you wouldn't be buying a used McMansion from 1999.

Mmmm, love soapstone.

I love the look of soapstone too, but seeing it in action its hard to keep clean. Anything wet creates rings that don't come off easily. Maybe its a porous stone?

Re: House hunting

My aunt and uncle's house has a 1500 CFM hood above their stove. One time when I was house sitting a few winters ago, I made a large fire in their living room fireplace. At the same time, I was grilling some chicken on the stove, and it started to get smokey, so I turned on the hood full blast. Big ...

Re: House hunting

I really like the house on Russett, EXCEPT for what they did to the fireplace/stairway. Those white ceilings really brighten the place up.

Apparently its super popular in Chicago, which has a terrible rat problem. I think there could be some conflict here with people conce...

Re: Sheriff David Clarke - Milwaukee's evil clown who wields the power of life vs. death

Well, the DOJ did just appoint a special prosecutor to look into his campaign's ties to Russia, so we have that going.

At least Clarke will leave WI?

Re: Judy Faulkner's Incredible Pledge

I think her intent it to 1) keep Epic privately held and prevent it from being sold after she dies, 2) keep Epic in the Madison area after she dies, and 3) create an entity that will distribute Epics profits to charitable causes after she dies (namely education and health). I don't think she's too c...

Re: House hunting

The flipper for the MCM house is a commercial real estate attorney who lives in Maple Bluff. I think she designed a good flip, but is probably asking a little too much. I mean, who wants to pay Maple Bluff prices to not live on the water? Personally, I like the all white look. I'm also probably the ...

Re: What is the status of the 149 E Wilson apartment development

According to the City's own data, downtown can absorb thousands of new apartments without see rents drop too far. And remember, overbuilding apartments just hurts the equity investors. Everybody else gets a lower cost of housing.

Re: Luxury apartments for UW students

They're marketed to students, but there's nothing stopping anybody else from living there...except all the students. All-in-all, I'm happy these have been built. They're sucking student renters out of the vintage housing stock in the near east and west neighborhoods, which will make those neighborho...
