Please Stop these stupid Shopper Stopper papers!!!!

Postby kvox » Thu Apr 21, 2005 7:01 pm

:x What a waste. These things pile up in my house. They go straight into my paper recycler. Is there any way I can reject or stop the delivery of this wasteful and annoying junk?

I don't think anything short of tethering a pit bull to your front door will work.

You CAN stop the Shooper Stoppers! It's been done. Be strong.

Call one of those phone numbers on the inside page, I forget which one. Tell them you don't want to get them anymore. They will say it will probably take 2-3 weeks for them to stop. After 4 weeks, call again. Repeat as needed.

Might even take on the first try if all the stars are aligned.

It took me about 1.5 months to get them to stop, but I haven't had one in over two years!

Why so many?

Postby teddymanny » Thu Apr 21, 2005 9:18 pm

The one with the faux leftist graphics--the one put out by MNI--must land in my mailbox six times a month. Why do we need these things? If we don't take their papers, we're probably not very interested in their car ads or the sampling of classifieds they now give us for free. As for the dozen additional inserts....

I'd love to know how to stop this damn thing. I've tried calling and have been told several times that they can't remove our address from their database. What crap.

This is from madison.com forums:

"Call the circulation department, tell them your address and ask them to remove you from the mailing list. 1-800-362-8333."

It hasn't successfully stopped the delivery of the 'Stopper Shopper' or what ever that murdered tree is called, but it helps fulfill my passive-aggressive need for revenge. There is a recycle basket in the lobby of my apartment that everyone throws that rag in each week, once a month I drive over to the Madison Newspapers office and return the collection unwanted shoppers on their front steps.

It does make me feel better.

I read the ads that come in the Shopper Stopper every week. I'm always looking for the best deals. I guess it comes from years of being poor and having to stretch every cent as far as it would go. Many less fortunate people, especially the elderly, plan their purchases through these ads, stocking up on the specials so they don't pay full price.

Do you think any of them would be willing to take my unsolicited subscription off my hands?

My wife will gladly take Michael's and Joann's coupons off the hands of disgruntled recipients.
