Holy Shit - Its one of my favorite thing about Madison, and Ive been reading this paper ever week that I have ever lived here (it should be one of the WSJ's "Madison top 100", but we shall see if that ever happens ; )

I hope things go well with the new ownership and that Vince stays on for a while at least

I've been reading since the first issue in 1976, which may not be something to be proud of. I hope the new owners bring fresh energy to Isthmus (it's time) and manage to keep it an expression of Madison's essentially progressive nature instead of a generic noplace weekly.

Good luck with the new venture. It'll be interesting to watch.

What do you think they should change?

More sports? More entertainment coverage?

More about city and county politics? More arts? More humor? More columnists? More debate? Less?

As the newspaper industry struggles during the digital age, Isthmus is no exception. Not as many pages per issue as in the past, staff layoffs or desertions and fewer advertising dollars. I hope a millionaire like Tauscher, who grew up in a newspaper family (and is cousin to former TV reporter Pam), will be willing to spend the bucks to keep Isthmus going.

Mark Tauscher? I didn't think linemen read newspapers. I hope he doesn't change Isthmus into a sports rag.

Actually Shorty, offensive lineman tend to be among the more intelligent football players.

I've been reading it every single week from the start as well. I was an adult (though young) in 1976. I get the impression Sno and I are pretty close to the same age.

He's right. That wasn't even a long time ago, Shorty.

AlI legacy forons will be required to apply for foron positions in the new foron org. But only after being interviewed by the team of efficiency consultants, and after having passed a drug screen including hair and toenail analysis. That is all.

I was around for the first few years of Isthmus, before moving west for twenty+ years. I remember the good coverage of mining issues up north, even though it was primarily a local weekly. At that time it was hard to get the northern anti-mining point across down here in Madison, and Isthmus provided a valuable service.
