Air conditioner repair

Postby Athena » Sun Jun 01, 2014 12:23 pm

What is the best place to go for air conditioner repair and/or buying a new one? It's central air and yesterday it stopped working well and the pipe to it was frosted up. I let it thaw overnight and replaced the filter but it didn't work this morning. So I think it has a leak and probably I'll need a new one since it is at least 15 years old.

I've mentioned before: I think CP Heating & Cooling is first rate.

I've had good results from R&A heating and a/c and I bought a Carrier A/C several years ago that works well.

Heating and Cooling on Perry St. replaced my furnace/ac unit last summer. New Bryant unit that costs considerably less to run than the old Goodman unit. The were done in a day and even dug up and saved the hostas growing by the unit. Their price quote was substantially less than Cardinal or Action.

I'd second the CP Heating and Cooling recommendation.

We had them replace our aging furnace and AC last fall, just before the cold snap. Quality work, personalized service, competitive rates. Parrish (the owner) will answer your call and see to it that all of your concerns are addressed.

Replace, not repair, if you can afford it. The newer units are way more efficient and will cost less to run.

If a clogged filter or whatever caused it to freeze up, it can take several days or even a week for that to thaw out.

Thanks everyone. I had CP Heating and Cooling out this morning to look at it and they think it should be replaced so I had them do a quote on a new one. Their price is about what I expected so I'll just have to get a quote from somewhere else to confirm. Luckily with the cooler weather this week I don't have to hurry.

RA Heating and Cooling had the least expensive quote as well as most thorough quote so I went with them. They did a great job. They replaced a bunch of duct work since the new air conditioner was bigger than the old one and installed a new thermostat. I'm very happy with the job they did and the air conditioner works well.

Glad to hear it. I've been happy with RA.
