West Town mall may offer some good food, finally

Postby Shorty » Sat May 24, 2014 9:04 pm

I never heard of Bonefish Grill and Jason’s Deli but they sound good. A nice alternative from the food court and the lowly restaurants that decorate the parking lot there now.

West Towne Mall announces additions for later this year
http://host.madison.com/wsj/business/we ... d1526.html

"Bonefish Grill and Jason’s Deli will open freestanding buildings this fall on the exterior of the mall along Mineral Point Road.
Bonefish Grill specializes in market-fresh fish from around the world and other wood-grilled specialties. In 13 years, Bonefish Grill has grown to 197 restaurants in 34 states.

Jason’s Deli features soups, salads, a salad bar, New Orleans-style muffalettas, pasta, several organic ingredients, and even a vegetarian and gluten-free menu. The food is free from high-fructose corn syrup, artificial trans-fats, processed MSG, and artificial colors and dyes. The restaurant chain has nearly 250 delis in 28 states. The Madison location will be its first in Wisconsin."

Jason's Deli is pretty good for fast food - think Panera with a broader range and better ingredients. I've eaten there on many a business trip in the southern states. Well done, West Towne!

It's been awhile, but I thought the food at Granite City was pretty good. The beer was meh, which is the only reason I haven't been back.

A cinnabon and soft pretzel provides excellent energy for shopping.

But a cinnabon and soft pretzel isn't healthy, as demonstrated by the customers waiting in line at those places. I'd rather sit down for a good meal, after shopping if needed.

I don't actually eat cinnabons, but every once in a while I will get a mall pretzel for sentimental reasons. They aren't very good.

I was a lad in Pennsylvania, and soft pretzels are an obsession there. I don't know why those delicious pretzels can't be made everywhere. In my grade school, soft pretzels were sold at recess.

The best soft pretzel I've found in WI are at the bar of the Essen Haus.

Auntie Anne's turned the soft pretzel into a doughnut.

That is a fine pretzel. Dexter's has a damn good pretzel(from Batch Bakehouse). The Grumpy Troll in Mt Horeb has a 1 1/2 pound monstrosity that ain't bad, either.

Great Dane used to, with a couple of mustard dips, but I don't know if they are still as good as I remember.

If it's anything like what their breadbowls have become, probably not.
