Dale Schultz to retire

Postby snoqueen » Mon Jan 27, 2014 9:54 am

And what do you think he'll be doing next? I feel like this guy isn't finished yet -- or I hope he isn't.

It's kind of depressing that the more moderate, reasonable legislators like Schultz and Tim Cullen are leaving the Legislature. I'm not real optimistic that whoever replaces them, regardless of party affiliation, will be as good.

"Moderate"? - my ass
I pretty much thought these men were iron clad consevative.
This narrative should not slide into 'perceived reality'.
F..k!!! This is mental!
Does this not stir anger within the modestly informed observer?

The moderators here are fairly open - they are unlikely to moderate your ass.

Tim Cullen is a Democrat, one of the ones who fled the state when Act 10 was in progress.

This is not a narrative. Which State Senators do you feel broke with their party and worked with the other side more often than these two?

Is that still a PC term?

It *does* stir anger with those of us that are moderates that possibly the only two remaining moderate State Senators are leaving. But I don't think that was what you had in mind.

15 years ago, I considered Schultz one of the more conservative state legislators.

Today ... he's easily the most moderate in the state Republican party, and just about the only one willing to stand up to Fitzwalkerstan's most blatant abuses of power. That doesn't make him a liberal, but it makes him worthy of my respect for standing up for principles that aren't bat shit insane like the rest of his party currently.

Its not even where you stand on the conservative/liberal scale. The Republicans in Wisconsin (and elsewhere) are just tools of ALEC and their ilk. And Schultz still has some integrity left. Unlike his colleagues.
“It’s a trap of wanting to do good but being coerced and convinced that the only way to accomplish that is to conform with outside pressures and agendas,” Schultz said. “That’s not something in which I’m willing to participate.”
