Aaron Rodger's backup

Postby Beaver » Tue Nov 05, 2013 8:54 pm

What do you think they will do until Rodger's returns?

Seneca Wallace didn't look too good against the Bears. Looks like former Badger Tolzien is next in line but probably no better. Coincidentally, Matt Flynn was cut by Buffalo yesterday so is available. And there is a rumor that the Packers may ask Favre to come out of retirement.

Put Seneca Wallace on your fantasy football team.

Farve was supposedly called, but he has absolutely no interest in getting hit every again. Go figure.

Wallace looked decent enough given the amount of time he's had to actually prepare. In comparison McCown had two full weeks of prep time as the starter.

Biggest issue I saw Monday was a lack of confidence in McCarthy.

I thought so too, particularly when they let him roll out of the pocket. But I guess we are the only two people in WI who think this way.

It could very well be that Wallace is pretty bad, we didn't really see his arm strength.

I would not be too shocked if Tolzien got a start.

Even if he doesn't start in the next couple of weeks Flynn should be signed immediately to at worst back up Wallace if for no other reason than that he knows the offense.

Flynn's sore arm is supposedly very serious, at least according to the sports media experts.

Make that 3. I think he'll look a lot better after he gets a week's worth of reps with the starters and McCarthy coaches him up. Vegas has the Pack as 2 1/2 point favorites.
I'll take the over.

This is where I saw a lack of confidence in McCarthy. He didn't really seem to give Wallace any opportunity to go deep. I don't care how much better the run game is, if the defense isn't worried about a passing game they are going to be able to stop the run. Maybe Wallace can't go deep, but you need to give him more chances to try if you want to find out.

Wallace's height sure seemed to be an issue but getting him out of the pocket should help that. No idea how Wilson and Brees do it. Seemed like Wallace had trouble getting the ball over the D line.

A passionate plea for awesome.

Not gonna happen but I would support it. ESPN might spontaneously orgasm however.

While my rational mind can come up with all sorts of reasons this is both a terrible idea and would never happen anyway, my Id is telling my rational mind to screw off and go make some nachos so we can watch Farve do his thing again.

If I were Favre and the PAckers, I would stage a comeback. Fans would LOVE it, and he is no worse than the alternatives.

Favre doesn't want to risk another concussion. He says he already has memory problems from past hits to his head. And he doesn't need the money.

Maybe he'll forget all that?
