Congrats to the Red Sox!

2013 World Series Champions!

I'm not an objective observer, as the Red Sox are my second team, but I think it was hard not to like this group of scrappy players, and even harder not to pull for a city that had a pretty rough start to the year.

For a franchise that didn't taste a title for 86 years, the Sox now have 3 in the last ten years, and moved into 4th place all time for Series wins.

Yankees: 27
Cardinals: 11
Athletics: 9
Red Sox: 8

I'm even less objective, but this group of players were incredibly easy to root for, especially compared to the dysfunctional clubhouse of the previous 2 seasons. They played the game the right way and proudly served as an inspiration to a shaken city. Nothing will ever beat the magic of 2004, but this title wasn't far behind.

I tip my hat to the Cardinals. Now that LaRussa is gone, there is no real reason to dislike them. It's an incredibly well-run franchise, and they're set up for continued success in the future. They'll be challengers for the Fall Classic for years to come.

Go Red Sox!!!

There were probably five Celtic-ska-punk bands called Drunk Napoli formed in the Boston area the minute those photos hit.
