A new John Doe investigation

Postby Henry Vilas » Mon Oct 21, 2013 12:15 pm

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that another John Doe investigation has started, this time looking into campaign violations during the recall elections. Walker has already lawyered up.

I love stuff like this.

Does this mean I am a bad person?

If so, do I care? Ha.

I can't wait to watch this one unfold. Daniel Bice, keep us posted.

No, I think it is normal. Admittedly I sometimes like it when a Democrat gets into hot water.

I bought an old Compaq PC at Dig-n-save about 7 years ago. It said "CHVALA" in black marker on the back. I When I opened it up, it had a ton of political stuff in it. About 80% of it was campaign donor lists usually separated by profession. There were memos advising on what to say to particular donors to elicit more funds. There was a picture of John Gard with devil horns drawn on. There was also a letter to snoop Dog empathizing with him on his battle with the music industry. Cell phone numbers of the 2004 Democratic primary presidents were in it as well. I wish I would've kept it now...

Walker declines comment on latest investigation

I assume that his silence is based on advice from his legal team.

OK, this is all a bit confusing, since I haven't been following Sconnie politics all that closely of late.

The previous John Doe investigation was dropped last spring, right? And it was Milwaukee only.

This new investigation apparently started before that one was dropped. And it's quite a bit broader.

So is the logical assumption now that the previous investigation was just subsumed into this newer and bigger one?

That would seem to be the case. It would also help to explain the abrupt end to the previous John Doe investigation, despite the identification of many, um, "wrongdoings" in the Milw County Executive's office by Landsgraf.

The first was about issues with the 2010 campaign. The new one is about issues with the recall.

The plot thickens

Everyone gives a flat denial about knowing anything about the probe except the Scotts, Walker and Fitzgerald.

I fear more wrist slapping and Gubenatorial insulation...but it would be funny if Fitz took the fall for Scotty. Fitz has Congressional aspirations and this might just bury his sorry ass. Then again, these politicians are like teflon.

While this appellate court ruling applies to the first John Doe investigation, it might be used as precedent for future cases. That is, as long as the Wisconsin Supreme Court doesn't overturn it.

Court rejects state's argument that media shouldn't intervene in 'John Doe' case

It is being reported that the targets of this investigation are the right-wing money groups that spent millions supporting Walker during the recall.

Targeted organizations include the Republican Governors Association, the Club for Growth and Americans for Prosperity, a group largely financed by Charles and David Koch.

The Wall Street Journal is crying crocodile tears over the latest John Doe investigation, saying it hinders the free speech rights of big money conservative groups which spend hundreds of millions trying to influence the vote in their favor.

Boo fucking hoo.

Surprise surprise that a Rupert Murdoch owned media outlet is crying foul about free speech rights by deep pocketed political mouthpieces....talk about chutzpah!
