The Pope is a gay

That new pope is so soft on the gays, see the headlines everywhere. I'm convinced there is some funny business going on there.

He wouldn't be the first. But unlike his predecessors, I do give him kudos for his tolerant attitude (all within the confines of Catholic doctrine, of course).

I have no idea whether this is true but if so it would be the first case I've ever heard of where a man of the cloth is gay but not obsessively anti-gay in public.

And here I thought he was pregnant! Or female, at the very least.

You were thinking of Pope Joan.

You guys pick some of the strangest things to worry about.

From the link, here's what the Pope has to say to you:
"...it is not necessary to talk about these issues all the time."

It's a Catholic thing. As a Protestant, you might not understand. (I'm talking religious heritage, not current beliefs)

OK, I can see what you mean and yes, I should stay out of religious stuff because I don't get it. Fair enough.

But the Pope himself is saying too much is being made of homosexuality (and abortion, if you read the link).

I know a few snappy quotes can't erase a couple thousand years of oppression wrought by the church, but this new Pope makes me think he might have actually read about that Jesus dude.

Yeah, it's kind of unsettling, but I have yet to this guy do anything that didn't fit pretty well within the actual teachings of Jesus. Not enough to bring me back to the giant institution he leads, but it's nice to think one of the more powerful organizations in the world, might actually have a leader who thinks that power should be used to help people.

Well, the possible role in South American political disappearings is troubling.

Pope Francis’ Plans For Modernizing The Catholic Church

No comedy gold there, but I liked

New Bible with stronger female characters
Concluding every sermon, mass, and blessing with the phrase “But that’s just my opinion”
    Denim vestments

Right... but a seemingly tolerant Pope is a whole 'nother subject that deserves serious play, in this secular Catholic's opinion.

Not sure it is modernizing as much as just trying to separate from the religious right, ordination of women is still "off the table" for example.
