There is no number of disparaging phrases that could sum up how little I care about the new third in line for the British throne.
And it amazes me how much time is spent in the media whipping the American public into a frenzy about this family.
Didn't we fight a war once upon a time so that we wouldn't have to care?

I had quite a different image in mind when I clicked on that link.

I care. Kate seems so darn nice. And pretty. I am charmed by the happy little family. Ya, the fact that the U.S. media went bonkers shocked me. Yet even in my dark, Madison-ironic heart, it was impossible not to feel a little warm and fuzzy.

America's fascination with British royalty seems strange to me. After all, our nation was founded by fighting a long, bloody war against their rule. And our Constitution bans titles of nobility.

The British monarchy has always fascinated us Yanks and will continue to do so for a long, long time. Doesn't bother me in the least bit. It's fun to watch history being made.

I think we need a little more context here. After all, there's an entire series leading up to this wondrous little miracle.

If you think of them as royalty it make little sense. If you think of them as an incredibly famous family, it makes a lot more. Was there any real reason to care about the Kennedy family outside of the ones actually holding office? Or the Jackson family? Why does Lindsey Lohan get 5 paragraphs when she forgets to put on all her cloths before going out? Is there any reason we need to know who the next guy Taylor Swift will be writing a song about is?

This just in. TMZ is reporting that Taylor Swift is dating the yet-to-be-named royal baby.

I'm surprised a baby would go for a flat-chested girl

Turns out that the crier that was such a center of worldwide attention was just some guy with a costume and a big mouth. Well, he's done the crier routine before in his home town, but he had no authority or connection to anybody.

I love it! That guy is my new hero.
