Snow! Ice!

Postby white_rabbit » Sat Dec 01, 2007 10:44 am

Well, I'm off to stock up on provisions of beer and DVD's in advance of the storm and then I'm going to park my car in a ramp until the ugliness is over. Considering the weather guys are also predicting a 1/2 inch of freezing rain/ice I'm also going to pick up some candles incase the freezing rain knocks down power lines.

Anyone else hunkering down for the storm?

Originally I was going to go up north today, to visit my brother in the Tomah VA hospital. That's been pushed back until tomorrow. Ms Vilas has her work holiday party tonight. We'll see if we can make it. We do have one vehicle with four wheel drive.

The 4-6 inches of snow doesn't scare me, but the 1/4 to 1/2 inch of ice does. Hate that shit. Anyway, back from parking my car in the ramp next to the Great Dane. The nice lady said the maximum fee is $3/day Saturday and Sunday so $6 is a small price to pay to get my car off the street until all is clear.

working at a car dealer, we dread this day. I've gassed up a half dozen cars and moved half the lot in preparation of plowing on monday.

It's now switched over to sleet much earlier than predicted. The only real question that remains is when do I pop in the Golden Girls DVD and break out the Ben & Jerry's?

The only way I'm going to be watching the Golden Girls on DVD with the Ben & Jerry's is if I am eating the "Bear's Choice" flavor (Milk, Eggs, Sugar, White Chocolate Chunks, Peanuts, Strawberries, Lysergic Acid Dythalimide).

The freezing rain has started. Make sure you fill the bathtub for washing/flushing water and some other containers for drinking/cooking in case the power goes out for more than a few hours.

But it's more fun in the dead of winter, when there's a chance your pee will freeze before it hits the ground.

So I recommend you hold it until then.

The car and it's totally bald tires are safe in the garage and the business where I work has closed early despite objections from some involved that we have an "obligation to the public" to stay open. Nevermind, that many of our employees are 17-20 year olds who aren't used to driving in this stuff... What types of businesses do you feel are "obligated" to stay open for you?

The ones that have all the booze. At least until they are legally obliged to close.

The same point was made by one of our employees, "It's not like we're a bar or anything..."
