Commercials

How can cultural elitists like ourselves put TV in the Culture category? Well, where the hell else is it going to fit?

Walmart is now running an ad using Blondie's "One Way or Another." It's a somewhat creepy stalker song, that includes the following lyrics:

I will drive past your house and if the lights are all down
I'll see who's around
One way or another, I'm gonna find ya'
I'm gonna get ya', get ya', get ya', get ya'

OMG, the Volkswagon commercial they just showed on the NCAA basketball show.

If you're in the market for a "pre-owned" VW, you might want to ask yourself, "Has this car been fucked in?"

I don't think it's a good selling point.

The American Family insurance commercial where the guy is busking.

Apparently AFI thought the guy's version of "Lovely day" was not good enough so they sent in some "help" - a woman with a huge voice that just steps in and takes over.

All the while the guy has WTF? all over him.

I don't get it.

I haven't seen this one. I'll look for it. Actually, I shouldn't say that I haven't seen it. Now, when a commercial comes on, everyone in the room picks up the Smartphone. It's borderline comical. Good luck, dumbass TV advertisers. No one under 60 is actually watching your ad. Good for hearing aids and Viagra. Sucks to be anyone else.

No, they were pretty entertaining and clever. They used to be on late at night.

The "Focused Dog Training" commercials are a continuing series of "you wouldn't let your children do this (cue children acting like dogs), why let your dog?" scenarios.

Flash to end result, your dog acting like a well behaved child.

They haven't got to the kids shitting in the backyard yet.

I would have addressed that before the jumping up on people.

They should also tackle the leg-humping issue early on.

it seems like they save them for late at night on some of the more non-fiction related channels . . . i am sometimes curious if they are implying something . . . like maybe that (not true by the way) that anyone up at that hour is probably a speed freak and the stuff can make yer blue-veined custard chucker malfunction with chronic use . . . that it does, including a phenomenon known as inverse ejaculation where it blasts it into yer bladder, with all sorts of attendant problems . . . rarely known to happen with some barbiturates as well and reported with erythromycin to the european medicines agency some years back . . . but if u like c-jam and/or meth and/or 4-methylaminorex and seconal u can pretty much bank on it around the time the cokeroaches show up . . .

there is apparently a town called stuf-ten somewhere too, and yet another, or a person, named stawg-ton . . . the ough being pronounced as in "coughlin" . . . yet another alternative to "oh" or "ow" it would seem . . .

I think that's the one out in Cross Plains or Black Earth that actually is going out of business.

I just heard one of theirs that said this is the LAST WEEK. So we'll see if they're still running them next week.

But yes, there is some state law about businesses that are perpetually closing, but I don't know the specifics. I think Jack's Shoes on State Street got hit with it a while back.

There are these really creepy Kessler's ads on the radio that are just a couple seconds long, usually a woman saying something like "She LOVES Kessler's." And that's it.

the full version was "she loves kessler's foaming beef probe"

I remember the somewhat salacious ads for Beecher Meats in Milwaukee on WAWA, the local black oriented radio station, that ran in the early 60s on the Dr. Bop Show.
