OK, call me overly optimistic but I really believe it will be a clear victory for Kerry*. I can feel it in me bones.

*whether or not he is allowed to take office is another matter

Way too much misconduct and ridiculousness already. Even if it's a "clear winner" I think it will end up the courts one way or another. Ohio and Florida are just too screwed up to not end up having something in the courts. Paper weights, strange punch ballots, voter "challenges", missing absentee ballots... ugh.

It will be a clear win for Kerry.

GW, then, will create an executive order that the administration cannot change due to the war in Iraq, and institute martial law throughout the U.S.

I really hope you're right. I've been getting the opposite feeling - that Dubya's gonna waltz away with it. Historically speaking, it's pretty tough to beat a wartime incumbent. I'm nervous.

My gut feeling is Kerry wins a fairly clear victory but the Bush team files a whole pile of lawsuits. None of those achieves its intended objective, but it takes a while -- weeks or a month -- for a final, unobstructed result to be declared.

Just my prediction. I wish it'd be an electoral college landslide.

I think it will be a clear win for Kerry, but since GWB doesn't read the newspapers, he will not actually leave office.

Another historical element is that the incumbent never does better than his approval ratings, and George is under fifty. You got a right to be nervous, but so does he.

Tell that to Ike and Tricky Dick. The Korean War turned ugly during the Truman administration and LBJ had Vietnam. Bush is just too dumb to bow out.

Of course, this is just wishful thinking on my part.

It will be a repeat of 2000 with several states very close or undecided. After weeks of recounts and court challenges, the terrorists will attack and Bush will declare marial law and appoint himself emperor.

Tricky Dick didn't beat LBJ, he beat Humphrey. Technically not a wartime incumbent, though a member of the incumbent administration.

Yeesh. A plurality says the election will lead to civil war? I hope at least some of those votes were less than totally serious.
