Sochi Olympics

Postby Beaver » Sat Feb 08, 2014 4:16 pm

Who do you think will win the most gold? Norway? Germany? USA? Will that Gracie Gold cutie live up to her name? When will the terrorists strike? Bobsled? Luge? Closing ceremony?

I enjoyed the opening ceremonies. It will be hard to top the singing police choir:

Putin strikes already.

Man Responsible For Olympic Ring Mishap Found Dead In Sochi

"The man responsible for operating the Olympic Rings during last night’s Winter Olympic Opening Ceremonies in Russia was found dead today. According to local reports the body of T. Borris Avdeyev was found his hotel room early this morning with multiple stab wounds.

Avdeyev was a technical specialist responsible for the Olympic Ring spectacle, which embarrassingly malfunctioned last night. Five animatronic snowflakes were supposed to transform into Olympic Rings. The first four functioned properly but the fifth snowflake failed to change shape."

I liked Shuan White better with long hair. Isn't it exciting? Medal count so far: Nowary 13, Netherlands, 12, USA 12, Russia 11.

Nowary? Well they better GET wary.

Frankly I'm having a hard time being interested in these Olympics. I watch a few minutes, get bored and switch over to Rehab Addict or some such.

Agreed. I haven't been able to make myself watch more than two consecutive minutes of it.

We've got the DVR set for 2 channels of olympic coverage. I think we're already about 30 hours behind, with no hope of actually watching most of what we have.
Worst part is trying to avoid hearing spoilers on a daily basis- every news broadcast and news break seems to mention highlights. Knowing the results make watching even less interesting.

They just need to tweak the format a little bit...

Best thing I've seen from the winter olympics since Eddie the Eagle

My favorite story so far (you can tell what a sports fan I am) is about a wolf seen wandering the halls of a Sochi hotel. Here's the video, taken by American luger Kate Hansen:

Yep, looks like a wolf to me, unless this is the Iditarod.

It is? Then it's funny. I loved the idea of a Russian wolf casually wandering down the halls of the Olympic hotel.
