The Citadel

Postby rabble » Wed Aug 21, 2013 10:04 am

Doesn't appear to be gaining much momentum. But you never know. One well-heeled investor could kick start it.

Personally I'd like to see them get far enough along to see how the gun manufacturing business grows. I don't think they'll ever get their quality control high enough to compete.

The article says everyone leases their houses so if you ever turn unpatriotic they can throw you out without much fuss.

It doesn't say exactly who owns it all besides Christian Allen Kerodin, nor does it say what happens if it ever turns out the owners themselves have strayed from the righteous path of patriotism.

The whole idea of living out west is the independence and spaciousness. Not communism. If you want communism move to the near east side and share a 3 bedroom flat with 5 other people.

If you read the article, you'd--

Oh, wait. I see my mistake.

You just made me think of it: the Citadel needs to go on Kickstarter.

That might be interesting.

I like the idea of having them all in one place.

I like having them all in one place that isn't anywhere near a place I want to be.

I'm doing my part by growing sunflower barricades. The Rs don't much care for flowers. Tall flowers – especially in full bloom – prompt feelings of cartesian panic and disorientation.

At that point, we surround them while cooing in harmonic, minimalist phrases that prompt sweet, diuretic catharsis.

That's usually enough to send them on their way. If not, we sprinkle them with irridescent flocs of common sense –– akin to the ghosts of Christmases past –– and watch while they seep downward between the paving stones

Gosh, Mr. Baked, I don't understand what you mean. Is this about gluten?

Edit: I apologize. Mom taught me to never tease a caged animal, but I thought the cage was a literal thing. We all have our cages, I suppose. But we don't all embrace them.

Now what can we do for Mr. Half-Baked?

I really wonder how you've lived this long. You've clearly been around a long time and yet you understand nothing.

Something I didn't see in the article: will residents of the Citadel be required to work for the Citadel? Paid in company tokens? We already know they'll be living in houses leased from the Citadel.

Seems a lot closer to a company town a century ago than Madison at any time. Tennessee Ernie Ford doesn't seem quite so old-fashioned anymore.

There is a movement underway for libertarians to migrate to New Hampshire and form a "free state."

http://freestateproject.org/

Within the universe of half-baked ideas, I can see this is a plan that has a chance of succeeding to some extent. Problem is employment opportunities, I suppose. But people tend to want to live among like-minded people, so why not a haven for libertarians? It's a small population state, and New Hampshire starts with a libertarian bent.
