True, Walker has a long way to go to achieve Doyle's jobs numbers: 120,000 during Doyle's final two years as governor compared to only 60,000 for Walker's first two years.

Those were sort of golden years during the Doyle administration, weren't they?

Maybe it had something to do with Doyle not pissing off half his constituency so much that it turned an already polarized state into such a chaos that every business thinking about moving to Wisconsin decided to hold off till the climate got a little more steady.

That was a good tactic for Doyle, wasn't it?

Correction: Wisconsin did not add 120,000 jobs during Doyle's final two years in office, Wisconsin LOST 120,000 jobs.

Update: Walker's 2010 goal: 250,000 new jobs by January 2015
New jobs so far: 65,600
Still needed to meet goal: 184,400

Troll scores again. :-) I guess Doyle never kept his promise to add 250 thousand jobs.

Gov. Walker: Statement on increased revenue projections
5/9/2013

May 9, 2013
For Immediate Release
Contact: Tom Evenson, (608) 267-7303

Madison – The non-partisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau released updated revenue projections today which predicted Wisconsin will have a $543 million surplus. Governor Scott Walker released the following statement in reaction:

The projected $543 million surplus is good news for the people of Wisconsin. Our sound fiscal management means we can continue to invest in our priorities while protecting taxpayers.

The surplus and increased revenue projections should be invested in aid for our schools, lowering income taxes for middle-class families, holding the line on property taxes, and building our rainy day fund.

Wisconsin’s economy is growing, and our tough, but prudent, decisions mean we are better off than we were two years ago.

First Walker cuts nearly a billion dollars from state aid to public education. Now he proposes to give a little of it back. How generous of him.

And where are all those jobs?

Our Governor is a liar, just like a lot of other Republicans.

Republican after Republican states that the biggest threat to our society is the debt that we are creating by our government. Now Wisconsin is going to have a surplus (who knows if that is cash basis or acrual basis surplus and if the actual amount of our debt is going to go up or down) and instead of paying off Wisconsin's debt we are going to lower taxes.

So, is the debt truly the horrible "Monster" that we are told to believe? If it is let's pay it down as fast as we are able.

Walker was probably counting these dubious numbers:
Hall said he stands by WEDC's claim that it has created 24,000 jobs since it was created in July 2011. But the audit bureau found that the agency had failed to verify any of the job claims made by companies.

"To this date, they go around obfuscating for the public jobs created or jobs retained," Barca said. "Now the new state of art is 'jobs impacted.' I mean, excuse my French, but what the hell does that mean?"

Jobs impacted probably means jobs that lost union protection, benefits, where the pay scale dropped, scheduled raises disappeared, and whatever else they could cram in to make the number bigger.

CEOs like Wisconsin but jobs report shows state and cities lagging

One commenter theorized that CEOs love states with high unemployment rates so they can pay less in wages to desperate job seekers.

Walker reports state added 32,000 jobs in 2012

Walker says in the first two years of his term just over 62,000 jobs have been created. He pledged to create 250,000 jobs in four years.

Still well short of this goal.
