I think that's unfair, Jason. Not to flog a dead horse, but a thread about the bombing plot on a Canadian Railway seems like a pretty big story. If the reason you don't want such things explored is because people get excitable, angry, and eventually devolve into raving lunatics who see terrorists behind every tree in their neighborhood, then get rid of those
If you don't want us to write about whatever piques our fancy, perhaps we should be given assignments. I'll go ahead and take "getting drunk", "eating cheese curds" and "not doing my dishes". I'm not sure if those are good topics for The Daily Page, but it never occurred to me that there were many rules, if any.
Or start a new topic called "Flame Wars" where we could have scintillating conversations like "Why is pjbogart such an asshole?"
I do like the idea of demanding that people stay on topic, but I also understand that policing the board is a colossal waste of time and energy. I guess I don't have a solution for that. Sometimes "feeding the trolls" and "making sure the trolls don't gain a foothold" are one in the same.
