Coppa sandwich at Underground Butcher

Postby kimm » Wed Apr 10, 2013 1:34 pm

Had a catered lunch from Underground Butcher at an event today. The coppa sandwich was so perfect. It was simple: sourdough baguette that didn't hurt the mouth to eat, thin slices of coppa, and generous slices of Pleasant Ridge Reserve with a spicy dijon mustard. No one flavor overpowered the was all so balanced.

I usually dislike sandwiches (thanks to crappy grocery store delis and Oscar Mayer), but this reminded me of why a simple Italian meat and cheese sandwich is still one of the best things in the world to eat. Craving some Gino's and Frabonis now to compare. It's been a long time, but I don't recall liking them quite as much as the Underground's coppa (though Gino's and Frabonis are cheaper, I'm sure).
