you must be joking wrote:So why is it that the good people of Wisconsin can take to the fields and woods of our great state and spend some 3,000,000+ days walking around while heavily armed during the 9 day gun season and only one of them dies from a gunshot wound while 90 miles south of here over 400 people in Chicago get gunned down in the streets largely by handguns

Come on, really? All that information and the end you get to is that drugs are the problem?

Because really, aside from drugs, what is the difference between life in one of the largest and busiest cities in the world, and the woods of Wisconsin? Must be the drugs. That's all it could possibly be.

Chicago's gun problems and drug trade problems share the same root cause: extreme economic disadvantage.

If we had universal background checks, & went after ILLEGAL guns/gunsales, we might get a handle on disarming criminals.
But the NRA won't let that happen. It would ultimately hurt profits.
Back in 1999 when the NRA publicly wanted universal checks, they lobbied congress behind the scenes to defund the agencies responsible for prosecuting the federal gun laws.
NOW, the NRA can claim that gun-laws don't work, because the Gov. doesn't enforce the gun laws we have. Because they don't have the personnel, or the money to do so. We need a new congress.
