Hahaha. Yeah, I got some nice snow. But more snow is always better. If it were up to me, we wouldn't see bare ground around here until May.

Madison's got piles of free sand scattered around town.

I picked up a couple buckets of it this morning so now I can tell you all about it.

Pretty good sand. A little damp. If there's a good freeze it'll be rock hard so if that happens, be prepared to mine it in chunks.

Interestingly, if it freezes it doesn't get all that rock hard except around the edges where the rain got in the barrel. I prefer the barrels to the sandpiles because the barrels have lids.

Still, a person has to do what a person has to do.

Another storm coming Tuesday. There isn't any room to put the snow.

That is what the ensuing warmth will be for. I am in Jamaica as I write this, so while you might think I would laugh and laugh, I will be heading home during the end of the storm.

Good thing I'm all mellowed out and shit. 10 days of 80 degrees and high quality Jamaican will do that for one's perspective. Seriously, if you have to, sell everything you own and come on down!

On Dec. 3rd 1990, Madisons snowiest single day with 17.3 inches, I too was sitting on a beach in Jamaica (Negril) savoring the end of my vacation. Here's hoping you don't come home to quite the winter wonderland that I did. Seriously hoping.

Maybe I'm just wintered out, but this has been the most miserable year for wet heavy snow and subsequent freezing temps. Now the forecast is for up to 13" with pretty mild temps, so we're probably looking at wet 'n heavy again but maybe not the freeze.

Tuesdays have got to be the most common snow days in Madison. I gotta try to look that up.

edit: I was able to find a list of record snowfalls and so far this century, 7 out of 11 record snowfalls have involved a Tuesday.

So I think I'm on to something here..

I think you're wintered out (few aren't). The first couple snowfalls were wet and heavy and brutal to shovel (my snow blower didn't work). But the last few have been relatively light and fluffy, I think.

Maybe when I get old I'll get a snowblower.

We bought our neighbors old one during the first big snow. They had run out and bought the biggest one available at the time in Mt. Horeb. I am very happy with the purchase.

Speaking as someone who does a lot of driving on Tuesdays, these last few winters have totally been Tuesday Snow Heavy. Starting to think God hates my ska band.

Snowblowers are for city folk with side walks, we have a plow. Our driveway is starting to resemble a luge run.

The second half of that last one, after I had cleared the first initial load, was very sleety. I clear snow for 2 customers besides our house and one is a corner apartment with small parking lot. If it's too wet to use the blower I do it all by hand and even an inch of slushy snow gets heavy after that.

The ice is probably what winters me out more than snow.

I'm going to make a sign and get together with the Westboro Baptist "Church":
