I've been sick all week, so my options are still pretty wide open. Haven't had a drop to drink and my junk food intake is zero (Glass Nickel pizza isn't junk food, is it?). Plus, I'm not Catholic so it's not like I'll go to hell if I have a juicy steak between now and Easter. It would be pretty hard to give up something like chocolate, but I could stand to do away with fried foods, maybe. But the idea is to really sacrifice, right?

Wait, is this a real thing? I grew up Catholic, and I don't remember anyone who wasn't Catholic going along with the Lenten command of self-denial.
Putting better diet choices into practice is a good idea and not easy, but that is not what Lent is. The idea of Lent is not to sacrifice, but that you have been slackin', poor boy, and you are gonna git it in the end if'n you don't get correct. I try to eschew superstition all year long.
Superstition ain't the way.
