Popewatch '13

Postby bdog » Mon Feb 11, 2013 7:08 am

My money is on this darkhorse:

Willem Jacobus "Wim" Eijk (born 22 June 1953) is a Dutch prelate of the Catholic Church. On 11 December 2007 Pope Benedict XVI appointed Eijk the Metropolitan Archbishop of Utrecht[1] and, on 26 January 2008 Eijk was installed in the St. Catharine's Cathedral in Utrecht. He is the 70th successor of Saint Willibrord (658–739)[2] on the See of Utrecht. He was formerly Bishop of Groningen-Leeuwarden. On 18 February 2012, Pope Benedict XVI made him a Cardinal.

He's the first Pope to resign in 600 years. So it must be something serious. I'm guessing buggery of altar boys.

We'll see how unhealthy he really is I guess. If he doesn't die within a year of his resignation it sure will look like he bailed because the shit was getting too deep.

If you've abused little boys they'll move you to the front of the line.

Now, now - you don't have to have actually molested anyone to meet the needs of the job. What's most important is that you cover-up the crimes of others and make sure nobody who did abuse little boys is ever brought to justice.

Assuming, of course, that you are doctrinally pure. If you hold heterodox ideas, such as those laid out in Vatican II, then forget it.
