Did State agencies close? Epic?

Postby Beaver » Thu Dec 20, 2012 9:25 pm

I know UW Madison closed today except for essential employees. What about the other big employers? Did State agencies close? Epic? American family? I haven't heard anything about them. How can they expect their employees to commute today?

My (unnamed) state agency was open for employees, but not the public. I took a vacation day.

Seems like they should have used the downtime to think up a name for themselves.

They probably could hire a consultant to come up with a really snazzy name. The private sector does everything better, after all.

In the private sector, we're much smarter. Everybody "worked from home" on Thursday.

Yes, because the Governor was concerned about the public's safety.

State employee's safety, not so much.

If the state closes the buildings to employees they've always had to pay them. They expect most people to stay home and use vacation, or this close to the end of the year when a lot of people don't have any left, make up the time. I wonder if, without unions, that will change.

Unions at State gvmnt still exist just can't collectively bargain.
