Shit. I actually have stuff to get done at work before I break for the holiday. Usually I'd welcome this snowpocalypse.

Where's SNOW at? How about some snow-day TACO recipes?

Hola! The best thing about tacos are that they can incorporate whatever excellente leftovers you have around the house. (I recommend doing this with corn tortillas, but any will do.)

Just take what you have left over, be it veggies, meats, etc., maybe dice them up a bit, fry them (maybe with some cornmeal!) and apply hot sauce (which you should always, always, always have on hand) liberally. Que delicioso!

Any leftovers will work - that's a TacoPromise! (Look for tacopromise.net in 2013!)

Exciting! Its even better that the estimates keep rising. It was 6 inches, then 10, then 12, now 14! Its getting better and better! One of the things I actually like most about snow storms is helping out the neighbors clear their driveways, and stopping to help push a random stranger's out of jam. Nothing like a snow storm to bring everybody outside. Except maybe a barbeque.

No reason to enforce these arbitrary distinctions. Shovel out the grill first!

Since I discovered it two or three years ago, this has been the most accurate predictor of snow amounts I've ever seen. http://www.johndee.com/ Click on the "forecast graphic" link on the left to see a map of the next four days. Right now it looks like Madison might just escape most of the snow god's wrath. Check back tomorrow, as predictions can and do change. Worth bookmarking, IMNHO.

Your guy John Dee is predicting the main event will go north of Madison, not hit it right on. Looks like his overall totals are in the range of a four inch accumulation ending Friday morning.

Right now, on their day by day forecast page Wunderground is saying about an inch accumulation Wednesday night, and another four inches accumulation on Thursday. However, their printout of the NOAA warning says snow accumulations of 10-16". This is typical of Wunderground, which aggregates a lot of info from all over but never sums it up in any consistent manner..

Weather.com is saying... oh, never mind. That page is so scrambled I can barely get it to tell me the current temperature. Where they put the forecast maps is a mystery.

Did anybody hear what WORT's weather guy said?

Guess we need to take all this with a grain of salt (or sand) and wait another 12 hours, but for now at least two forecasters (John Dee and somebody at Wunderground) are saying the big snow goes north of Madison.

I'd rather shovel 4 inches of snow than 14, frankly.

On the bright side, this could well be the last winter storm. Ever.

Yeah, but it's the forecast for Saturday that concerns me.

I'm only going by the graphic, but it looks like a day-without-concerns-on-the-côte-d'azur to me.

Latest model from NOAA: 16 inches+!

Of course, looking at their map, a deviation in storm path on the order of just tens of miles could change everything. Still, my confidence in us getting 10+ is fairly high now!

Where's Andy the weather dude when you need him?

Edit: also, we got bumped from blizzard watch to warning.
