There are a ton of gun owners who are Democrats. Gun advocates, clearly a step beyond owners, tend to be Republicans but my critique of gun advocates includes all
gun advocates: Republicans, Democrats and everyone in between. And I stand by my assertion that gun advocates are to blame for crimes such as this. A schoolteacher in Connecticut has numerous automatic weapons in her home for self defense, including a military grade assault rifle? Do you know what an M4 Carbine is?
I have very little sympathy for the parents of the shooter, including the one who was killed with her own gun. Having something like this in your house is asking for trouble. Were you planning on battling post-apocalyptic zombie hordes? Was there some danger that the Marines might be landing in Newton, Connecticut to assign you to a government re-education camp? Do you consider dangerous weapons to be appropriate toys for your home? Do you juggle grenades at your neighbors' birthday parties?
People who oppose reasonable restrictions on gun ownership invite these types of crimes, and they do so fully aware of the dangers such weapons pose to innocent members of the community. If you want to own an M4 Carbine, you better be a member of a well-regulated militia
, meaning there should still be further restrictions on possession, storage and usage. This is not a fucking toy. As far as I'm concerned, anyone who has a subscription to gun porn like "Guns and Ammo" should be automatically precluded from owning any guns. If a Benelli Tactical Shotgun gives you a boner, you should never, ever touch one.
Yeah, I think obsession with the 2nd Amendment and guns is a sickness. The more you want a gun, the more important it is that you never have one.
