Dementia or Desperation?

Postby fisticuffs » Thu Nov 15, 2012 4:02 pm

So while John McCain was blasting Obama to the press about not having the answers he needs on Benghazi he was missing an opportunity to ask those question in a briefing on Benghazi.

Remember who he chose for his running mate in 2008.

Apparently it's not just McCain; only 3 of 8 Republicans on the committee bothered to show up for the intelligence briefing. By way of contrast, 7 of 9 Democrats on the committee were present.

The Republicans don't actually care about what happened in Benghazi except as an excuse to bluster and grandstand in front of the cable networks' video cameras. Attending an event where the media aren't present would be pointless for them.

That was a well thought out choice by a guy who knew what was coming and didn't really want to be the president. Remember how relieved he looked during his concession speech?

It's amusing to watch them storm around and then look at the mainstream international media and see... nothing.

Dementia? Desperation?

I think it's delusion. Not just the delusion there's something to see here, but also the delusion anybody else is paying attention any more.

Cripes, I clicked in to here thinking this would be a serious conversation about Meade.

That being said, I can adjust my targeting a bit - McCain is kind of insane I think and also has been a bullshitter for such a long time, that he doesn't know up from down anymore. We can't expect him to pull off complicated feats like "consistency", as he has NEVER been consistent in matters of importance. The only thing he's consistent about is his sense of entitlement.

With Meade, I'd guess it's a clear case of dementia; I give him six months before he starts shitting himself while wandering around the capitol with his video camera, trying to find his way back to his meal ticket.

It's a scandal now?

Are any, you know, CREDIBLE news outlets referring to it as a scandal?

The newsclip is well worth it if you have a minute and 39 seconds to spare. A very graceful shove out the door.

Yes, follow Rabble's advice and watch the clip above. Then check out Tom Ricks take on what happened, pretty cool.

You would think they would be more concerned about Rice's blocking of UN reports of the U.S. supported genocide in the Congo or something.

The story keeps getting better. Fox says Ricks apologized for being so rude but doesn't have the moral character to do it publicly.

Ricks says he didn't apologize to anybody.

Update on the apology thing:

Update: Clemente calls Ricks’ response “utterly dishonest,” and told TVNewser what Ricks told FNC staffers after his segment:

“I’m surprised by the General’s utter dishonesty,” Clemente says. “I’ll refresh his memory – what he said following the segment was, ‘Sorry… I’m tired from a non-stop book tour.’ Perhaps now he can finally get some rest.”

Aha. He said all those things because he was tired. If only he had been wide awake.
